Assault

Ricky Balance, 48, of Goldsboro, reported that he was walking down the 700 block of George Street on Friday at about 8:30 p.m. when three white males exited a vehicle and assaulted him.

Balance told investigators that the three suspects approached in a vehicle, jumped out and assaulted him without saying a word.

Balance told the deputy he was struck in the face and fell down. As he tried to get up, he said he was struck several more times. He told the officer he was intoxicated and could not describe the suspects. Eventually, Balance said he walked to a residence in the 1100 block of South George Street and called the police.

Larceny

* An unknown subject stole $250 from the Andy's restaurant located on Wayne Memorial Drive on Thursday at about 7 p.m., according to a Goldsboro police report. An Andy's employee reported that two black men went to pay the cashier and, during the transaction, one of the men presented a $100 bill and asked the cashier to make change. The cashier passed the money across the counter and one of the men spread it over the counter to confuse the cashier. Then, the suspect walked out of the restaurant with the extra money, the employee said. The suspect is a black man with a medium build that is about 6 feet tall. The incident is under investigation.

* Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, an unknown subject broke down the front door of a residence on the 1700 block of South John Street and stole about $3,000 worth of belongings. Leon Vinson, 43, of South John Street, told authorities he left his home at 5:30 a.m. and his girlfriend left the residence at 7 a.m. When he returned from work, Vinson told the police that he found his front door open with damage to the door estimated at $50. A .380-caliber pistol valued at about $139 was stolen along with a gemstone ring and a diamond ring. Both rings were valued at $500 each. A collection of gold bracelets, valued at about $1,500, was also stolen.

Missing person

Goldsboro police are looking for David Arlene Buff, 47, who was last seen at the Woodard Retirement Home located near the intersection at Wayne Memorial Drive and Royall Avenue. According to the police report, Buff walked out of the retirement home at about 2:45 p.m. Friday and did not return. Buff suffers from depression and other mental problems. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes, a black coat and a green hat. Buff is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has red hair. Anyone with information on Buff's whereabouts should call the Goldsboro Police Department at 705-6572.
