Crime Stoppers helped authorities in drug cases

Law enforcement authorities got the help of Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers in investigating a drug case in Mount Olive in February.
An anonymous call to the agency led police to charge two people on Nellie Street with multiple drug offenses. Drugs, fireams and cash were seized. Stephanie Darden, 34, and Travis Darden, 34, were charged with selling marijuana and possession of a firearm by a felon.
During February, Goldsboro police Sgt. Dot Ardes, the Crime Stoppers law-enforcement coordinator, said the agency received 35 tips about possible crimes in the area.
In another drug case, three men were arrested, with one charged with cocaine possession and the other two with probation violation and traffic offenses.
Executive Director Bill Troutman said that since the inception of Crime Stoppers in 1982, anonymous call have helped law officers clear 7,054 cases and make 5,455 arrests.
Anyone with information on any crime in Wayne County is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000, if their information leads to arrests in felony cases.
