Final events planned for Wayne County reads

Wayne County Reads is winding down, with only a few more events left on this year's schedule.
Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill professor emeritus Dr. Anthony Oberschall will take center stage at Wayne Community College's Moffatt Auditorium.
His lecture, "Genocide Today," is the second to last event before the conclusion of this year's Wayne County Reads programming, centered around Elie Wiesel's Holocaust-themed novel "Night."
Oberschall attended Harvard University and received his doctorate in sociology from Colombia. He has taught at UNC-CH for more than two decades in the sociology department and currently teaches an international conflict management class for Duke University and UNC-CH students.
Oberschall has roughly 100 publications in academic journals and has written five books, including "Establishment of Empirical Sociology," "African Businessmen and Social Change in Zambia," "Empirical Social Research in Germany," and "Social Conflict and Social Movement."
Oberschall's expertise includes social conflict, group violence and conflict management.
The final event for Wayne County Reads, the play "I Never Saw Another Butterfly," will run March 30 through April 1. Programming began in late January with a reception and exhibit on Wayne County's Jewish Heritage.
Tickets for Oberschall's lecture are free and may be picked up from the WCC cashier.
