Jaycees seeking nominees for awards

The Goldsboro Jaycees are accepting nominations this month for outstanding citizens in several categories.
The nominees for the awards will be recognized locally and will be eligible to compete at the state level.
The Outstanding Senior Citizen award honors a resident over the age of 60 who has shown exemplary qualities of leadership in his or her lifetime.
The Outstanding Boss of the Year is presented to a Jaycee employer who has given meritorious service to his or her family, church, community, nation and the Jaycees organization.
Nominees for Outstanding Teenager must currently be a senior in high school, have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and exemplify a well-rounded youth in scholarship, leadership and community service.
The Outstanding Educator must be a professional educator employed in kindergarten through 12th grade and be between the ages of 21 and 40 as of Jan. 1, 2006.
The Outstanding Farmer must be an actual farm operator deriving two-thirds of his or her income through farming and be between the ages of 21 and 40 as of Jan. 1, 2006.
Nominees for Outstanding Public Servant must be correctional officers, firefighters, law enforcement officers or rescuers who have achieved success and leadership in their professions and are currently active in the community through civic work.
Nominees for Outstanding North Carolinian should be between the ages of 21 and 40 as of Jan. 1, 2006, and have demonstrated exemplary qualities of leadership during their lifetime.
Applications for nominations may be picked up at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce at 308 N. William St., or Doug Henry Buick-Pontiac-GMC on U.S. 70 next to Pizza Inn.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 31.
Applications may be dropped off at the same locations, or mailed to the Goldsboro Jaycees at P.O. Box 463, Goldsboro, N.C. 27533.
