The police supervisor was in a group of officers from the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office that was serving a search warrant at a home at 1200 E. Elm St. During the service of the warrant, he was shot and wounded.

When the shooting was reported, numerous officers arrived at the intersection of East Elm Street and South Pineview Avenue. The State Bureau of Investigation also joined the investigation.

The home was cordoned off with yellow evidence tape. East Elm Street was blocked by police cars for about an hour until it was reopened at about 10:20 a.m.

Two men were brought from the corner house in handcuffs and taken into custody for questioning. Police did not identify the men.
