Drug arrest
A Goldsboro police investigation on Goldsboro Housing Authority property resulted in the arrest of James Stevens Sr., 43, of LaGrange. The investigation was conducted in the Elmwood Terrace Community. Approximately $650 in marijuana and cash were recovered. Stevens was charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana and maintaining a dwelling. Bond was set at $2,000.
Wrecks
*Joseph Frederick Nichols, 64, of Spence Avenue, was charged with failure to stop at a red light after his car collided with one driven by Betty Bass Evans of Harris Street. The wreck occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 117 North and U.S. Highway 70 East. Damages were estimated at to the vehicle driven by Nichols, owned by Quality Farm Equipment, was set at $200, while damage to Evans' vehicle was set at $2,500.
*Tammy Michelle Mooring, 37, was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a wreck on Wayne Memorial Drive. Ms. Mooring told police the brakes failed on her 1996 Pontiac and she collided into a 1997 Ford, driven by William Andrew Harrison Jr. Damage to the Pontiac was set at $4,000, and $10,000 on the Ford. Ms. Mooring was charged with improper brakes, while Harrison was charged with driving while his license was revoked.
*Nicole Alexander, 18, of LaGrange, was charged with making an improper lane change after her 2000 Plymouth struck a 1997 Ford driven by Tammy Gardner Bizzell of Snow Hill. The wreck took place on Berkeley Boulevard. Damage to the Plymouth was set at $1,200, and $1,000 on the Ford.
Investigations
Wayne County Sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Paul Benjamin Daly of Slick Rock Road returned home Thursday and found the front door of his residence pried open. Nothing was reported missing.
*John Cannon of Hood Swamp Road said someone broke into his home and stole a television, about 100 compact discs, about 100 DVDs and a lamp. Value of the stolen items was set at $500. Damage was set at $300.
*Rita Medinasaid two men stole a stove from her home on New Hope Road. A neighbor said the two suspects told him that they could take the stove. They were described as black men, one about 6 feet tall and weighing 300 pounds, and the other about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 pounds.
*William Ballance said someone brok a glass door at his property on Davis Mill Road. A neighbor told deputies that he saw a gray or silver truck parked in the driveway, and a white man exited the vehicle. When the neighbor shined a light on the man, he fled.
*Jhan Timothy Allen of Mill Dane Lane reported his red 1991 Ford Escort stolen from the backyard of his property on Ruskin Road. Allen said the vehicle was not drivable.
*Juanita Mansour-Mosure, owner of a strip mall on E. Ash Street, reported an unknown person spray-painted the walls and doors of her business late Wednesday or early Thursday. Damage to two walls and four doors was set at $1,000.
*Johnnie Carr, co-manager of Swop Shop on George Street, said someon unplugged and stole a security camera valued at $200.
*Connie Parrish, manager of Maxway on Center Street told police that a man concealed items in his pants and left the store Thursday morning. Stolen were seven CDs and a pair of socks.
*Larue Benefield of Smithfield said someone broke into her truck while it was parked on N. James Street and stole her wallet, valued at $10.
*Jennifer Maureen Barnes of N. Leslie Street said someon broke into her vehicle and stole a DVD player and a DVD, valued at $128 in total. Damage was set at $90.
