A group of former athletes will visit Wayne County next week delivering motivational messages to students in 10 public schools.

The John Jacobs "Power Force," formerly the John Jacobs Power Team, will use their muscles to help strengthen the minds and attitudes of students at assemblies March 12-15. The group of athletes and body builders travel around the country leading assemblies. As part of their program, they demonstrate how strong they are. But they flex more than their muscles. They also motivate students to flex their minds. The former athletes focus on academic achievement, self-awareness, goal setting, resisting drugs and alcohol and sexual abstinence.

The assemblies are free. The Power Force is a non-profit organization that operates on donations.

The group also will present an evening program at First Assembly of God Church in Goldsboro, Monday through Wednesday evenings, beginning at 7 p.m. The Power Force will also offer programs at two private schools operated by First Assembly, Summit Christian Academy and Charis Prep.
