Three Goldsboro firefighters promoted

Three members of the Goldsboro Fire Department have been promoted, Chief Bobby Greenfield announced.
Eric Lancaster was promoted from lieutenant to assistant chief, Vaden Lee was promoted from fire engineer to lieutenant, and Jason Singleton was promoted from firefighter to fire engineer.
Lancaster replaced L. Ray Boyette, who retired after more than 20 years with the department. Lancaster will supervise C shift, one of the three shifts of about 25 people.
Lee and Singleton filled vacant positions in C and A shifts, respectively.
Lancaster joined the department in 1995. He was promoted to fire engineer in 1997 and to lieutenant in 1999. He earned an associate's degree in fire protection and has been certified as a level-1 fire officer, level-2 fire instructor, level-2 fire inspector and emergency medical technician.
Lee was hired in 1994 and was promoted to fire engineer in 1997. A lieutenant's main responsibility is to supervise the fire engineer and firefighters assigned to his shift and substation.
Singleton joined the department in 1999. His primary responsibility as engineer is maintenance of fire truck equipment, driving and pump operation.
