The lottery comes to Wayne

Lottery tickets will go on sale on March 30, and Wayne County residents will have more than 20 places to purchase them.
Twenty-two retail outlets in the county have been approved for installation of lottery machines. Those include 19 in Goldsboro, two in Mount Olive, and one in Pikeville.
Going grocery shopping? You will be able to pick up tickets at three Goldsboro Food Lion stores. Ten Kangaroo Express convenience stores will sell the tickets. Tommy's Food Mart, Smoker's Express, Bob's Convenient Mart No. 2, Moe's Neighborhood Grill & Convenience Store, Rawlings Express Mart and Budget Kings Meat Market will have lottery machines installed as well.
In Mount Olive, Food Lion and Quick Mart Food Store will have lottery tickets for sale, as will Food Lion in Pikeville.
Jill Young, manager of Rawlings Express Mart on Royall Avenue, said her store was the first in Goldsboro to have a machine installed.
"We just need to get it rolling," Mrs. Young said. "We've had a few people asking when it was going to get started."
Scratch-off tickets will be the first to go on sale, said Veronica Green, public information officer with the North Carolina Education Lottery.
"That is our projected launch date," Ms. Green said. North Carolina is scheduled to join Powerball on May 30, she added.
