Two struck by SUV
Two people pushing a car that was out of gas were struck by a hit-and-run vehicle Sunday on East Ash Street, Goldsboro police reported.
Patrick Coleman, 18, of Neal Street and Kendall Dawson, 19, of Raleigh were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where they were treated in the emergency room and release.
Coleman and Dawson were pushing a car that was being operated by John Ryan Knox, 18, of Raleigh, with the lights and flashers activated at about 6:07 p.m. The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a Ford Explorer.
In other accidents:
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured in a one-car wreck at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Canal Street. Henry Vann Williams, 62, of Beal Street was treated and released from the hospital. A police report said Williams had passed out from low blood sugar and his car had run off the road and struck a house at 907 Canal Street. No charges were filed. Damage was set at $4,000 to the car and $30,000 to the house occupied by Arnold Barnes.
*Damages were estimated at $5,500 in a two-car crash at 9:52 p.m. Friday at Peachtree Street and North Jefferson Avenue, police said. Frances T. Stewart, 63, of East Mulberry Street was charged with a safe-movement violation.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*About $8,475 worth of property was stolen from a home in the 100 block of Wedgewood Place. John David Cormier reported the theft of baseball cards, refrigerator, a washer, a dryer, furniture, a stereo system, gas grill and other home furnishings.
*A stereo system and about $300 in cash were stolen from a home in the 600 block of Luby Smith Road. Henry Robert Brown estimated the stereo's value at $350 and damages to a car parked at the home at $250.
*A News-Argus vending machine valued at $500 was stolen from a convenience store at 3458 U.S. 117 Alternate. Several newspaper vending machines from different newspapers were found Saturday in woods in the 800 block of U.S. 13 South and off Country Club Road.
Mobile home fire
A vacant mobile home at 128 Oak Ridge Drive, Dudley, was damaged Saturday in a fire that was believed to have been set, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported. Arrington volunteer firefighters put out the 3:38 p.m. fire and turned over a further investigation to deputies. Damage was estimated at $200.
Missing
A 13-year-old girl was reported missing Sunday by relatives. Meagan Noel Edge of 835 Polly Watson Road, Fremont, was described as white, 5-feet-5 and 89 pounds with a slim build, shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes. She was seen last at 10 a.m. Saturday. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
