Man wounded
A 31-year-old man from Dudley was wounded Tuesday night in a field in the Pleasant Acres subdivision, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
Moses Napoleon Wells of Running Deer Circle was rushed by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.
Wells told deputies that he was approached at 11:55 p.m. by a young black man. The suspect pulled out a handgun, shot Wells in the leg and fled, the report said. Wells said he had argued with the man earlier in the day. The assailant was not described further.
Three charges
A 20-year-old man was arrested Tuesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with three felony offenses.
David Jacob Lambert of Vail Road, Pikeville, was accused of breaking into a home on Cedar Lake Drive and stealing a shotgun and video-game equipment, Detective Sgt. Carl Lancaster said.
Lambert was charged with second-degree burglary, larceny and possession of stolen goods. Additional charges will be sought through grand jury indictments. He also was charged by Goldsboro police with resisting arrest.
Lambert was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of two secured bonds totaling $60,000.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A laser printer, three desktop computers, a television, a set of headphones and a compact disc player were stolen between Friday and Monday from a classroom at Meadowlane Elementary School at 3500 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro police said. The stolen property was valued at $4,054.
*Gunshots on Monday damaged a home in the 800 block of Poplar Street. No one was injured. Damages were set at $1,100 at the Verneita Hargrove home.
*Three large outdoor neon signs were damaged in a parking lot at 1801 E. Ash St.. Damage was put at $3,000.
*A 10-foot, trailer-type disc valued at $10,000 was stolen from a field behind Goldsboro Worship Center at 900 W. New Hope Road.
*Six windows were smashed and engine wires were cut Tuesday on a car in the 100 block of Somerset Drive. Cynthia Wyatt, of Baton Rouge, La., set damages at $2,500.
Vehicle thefts
Goldsboro police are investigating these vehicle thefts:
*A dark blue 2000 GMC Jimmy was stolen Monday from the 400 block of Hamilton Drive. The vehicle, owned by Kennon Moore of Goldsboro, was valued at $6,037.
*A green, four-door 1994 Nissan Pathfinder was stolen Saturday from the Wayne Memorial Hospital parking lot. Annette Ellis said the vehicle was worth $3,500.
*A white, four-door 1989 Chevrolet Caprice was stolen from a repair shop in the 300 block of South Slocumb Street. James Carnell Howard valued it at $800.
Driver hurt
A driver was injured in a one-truck wreck Monday on Old Grantham Road near Overman Road, the Highway Patrol said. Sammy Travis Fields, 18, of Adams Road, Faison, was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was charged with driving left of center.
Teens charged
A 15-year-old student at Southern Wayne High School has been charged with possession of marijuana on school grounds, and a 13-year-old student at Southern Academy has been charged with possession of a knife on school grounds.
Neither student was identified because of their ages.
Missing
A 53-year-old Goldsboro man was reported missing Monday by relatives to Goldsboro police. John Joseph Laffiteau of 500 E. Forest Hill Drive was described as white, 6-feet-2 and 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
When Laffiteau was seen last on Jan. 13, he was wearing a white shirt, tan pants, tan shoes, a tan or blue coat and a white hat. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 705-6572.
