Robberies
An elderly woman and two men were robbed in unrelated weekend holdups, according to Goldsboro police reports.
*The woman told officers that she had gone outside to move her car and a knife-wielding black man forced her into her home on Head Street at about 6 p.m. Saturday. He then went to her bedroom and grabbed her pocketbook with about $200 and personal papers and fled. The robber was described as being about 5-feet-5 and 200 pounds with a heavy build, wearing a black coat and a tan hat.
*Michael Leon Burns, 26, of Goldsboro reported that a black man grabbed his gold chain at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of North William Street. The suspect, about 20 years old, fled on a bicycle.
*Joseph Anderson, 27, of Goldsboro told police that three black men assaulted him at about 2:55 p.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of Edgerton Street, poured gasoline on him, stole $395 and fled. They were described as being about 20 years old.
Woman assaulted
A woman employee at a restaurant was assaulted and cut Sunday by a man who was arrested at the scene, Goldsboro police reported.
Shani DeVaughn, 30, of Goldsboro said the man had broken glass containers and a light globe at the Waffle House at 502 N. Berkeley Blvd. Then the report said the man kicked her in the jaw, head and abdomen and cut her face and stomach with a steak knife. Ms. DeVaughn was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was treated in the emergency room and released. Christopher F. Branch, 42, of South Slocumb Street, was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury, communicating threats and injury to property. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
6 hurt in wrecks
Six people were injured and damages were estimated at $88,250 in four recent traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A driver was injured and his car was demolished in a wreck at 2:27 a.m. Saturday at the new U.S. 117 and South Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway. Pedro Martin Jimenez, 25, of North John Street was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. He also was charged with failure to reduce speed, driving while impaired and an opened container violation. The car was valued at $29,000.
*A passenger was injured and damages were estimated at $5,350 in a two-vehicle collision at noon Saturday at North Berkeley Boulevard and the entrance to the new Berkeley Commons shopping center. Jacqueline Wallace, 21, of South Madison Avenue was released after emergency-room treatment. Herbert Arthur Holloway, 21, of Rollingwood Drive, Dudley, was charged with failure to reduce speed.
*Damages were estimated at $44,400 in a two-vehicle crash at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway and West Ash Street overpass. The report said the top of a backhoe on a trailer pulled by a truck struck the overpass, causing concrete to fall on the road and on a following car. The truck driver, Clennie Lee Jr., 39, of Kinston, was charged with operating a vehicle with a load too high. The car was driven by Eric Carl Barker, 25, of Kinston. Damage was put at $25,000 to the bridge, $19,000 to the truck and backhoe and $400 to the car.
*Four people were injured and damages were set at $9,500 in a two-car wreck at 4:52 p.m. Friday on North Berkeley Boulevard near Hill Drive. Margie Elizabeth Lewis, 67, of Antioch Road, and three passengers in the other car -- Shaughnessi Butler, 17, and Tanisha Darden, 13, both of N.C. 903 North, Snow Hill, and Wanda Darden, 54, of Kingold Boulevard, Snow Hill, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Lewis was charged with failure to reduce speed.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A debit card and four rings were stolen between Saturday and Sunday from a home in the 500 block of Vail Road, deputies said. The thief used the card to withdraw $2,000. The resident, S.C. Kelly, put a $2,000 value on the rings.
*A gunshot on Sunday night damaged a home in the 200 block of Outlaw Road, deputies said. No one was injured. Two walls and sheetrock sustained about $200 in damages at Gregory Boseman's home.
*A 60-inch television, a washer, a dryer, kitchen table with eight chairs and two recliners were stolen between Jan. 13 and Friday from a home in the 1100 block of Country Club Road, deputies said. No sign of forced entry was found at the home rented by Courftney Anderson of Mount Olive.
*A green, four-door 1997 Chevrolet Lumina was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from the 100 block of Angie Drive, deputies said. The owner and resident, Robert John McAllister, said the car was worth $3,000.
Missing
Two Wayne County teenagers were reported missing over the weekend by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
*Sara Elizabeth Kerr, 14, of Allen Place was described as white, 5-feet-6 and 90 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. When she was seen last, she was wearing blue jeans, a pink shirt and a gray hooded jacket. She may be riding in a black Mazda.
*Veronica Y. Cruz, 17, of 101 Buddy Lane, Seven Springs, was described as Hispanic, 5-feet-7 and 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was seen last on Saturday night.
