Investigations
These incidents are being investigated by deputies of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office:
* Between Jan. 20 and 11 a.m. Feb. 3, a 1994 white GMC Sierra truck with the license plate number NWM-4973 was stolen from the 2600 block of Old Smithfield Road. Teddy Moody of Thigpen Dairy Road in Mount Olive reported that he let Kenneth Lancaster, 39, of Rosewood Road, use the vehicle. When Moody returned to get the truck, he told deputies that Lancaster said he had not seen the vehicle. According to the report, Moody valued the truck at $22,000, and $12,000 in tools, including an air compressor, were in the vehicle.
* An unknown suspect removed copper wiring from the construction of a new residence on the 100 block of Autumn Ridge Drive between the hours of 12 p.m. Thursday and 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to the report. Lee Stanley of Goldsboro told authorities he went to check on the residence and noticed that the wiring, valued at $3,500, was missing.
* Four Labrador retriever puppies were stolen from a residence on the 100 block of Tom Herring Road in Goldsboro sometime between Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon. Richard Sugg, owner of the dogs, said half of the puppies were black in color and the other two were brown. Sugg told deputies the puppies are worth $400.
* An unknown suspect caused $3,000 in damages after breaking into a business located on North U.S. 117. Clement McCafkill, of West Wendy Way in Goldsboro, said that between noon on Jan. 25 and 3:45 p.m. Friday the unknown suspect broke a fence, cut electrical wires and made a hole in the building's wall. Then, according to the report, the suspect stole $1,000 worth of tools. No prints were obtained during the investigation, according to the report.
* Construction workers building a new residence on the 200 block of Pear Tree Lane noticed damage of electrical copper wires and informed the owner and authorities of the property damage, according to the report. Joseph Savarese, the owner of the residence, told deputies the damage inside and outside of the home totaled $3,500. There are no suspects.
