Wanted man
caught after chase
A man wanted on an outstanding warrant for criminal contempt tried to flee from authorities Monday but was captured in less than an hour.
Timothy Wayne Adams, 45, of Old Smith Chapel Road faces more charges after the chase.
Adams was seen by a Wayne County sheriff's deputy at about 4 a.m. on Durham Lake Road. He refused to stop and was pursued on Stevens Mill Road. Sheriff's officers put out stop sticks and they flattened two tires on Adams' vehicle. He was captured after a short chase on foot.
Adams was charged with failure to heed blue lights and a siren, fleeing to elude arrest, an expired registration and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $16,500 secured bond.
School bus wreck
Six students on a school bus and the driver of a car were injured in an accident Thursday afternoon on Devereaux Street near Wayne Avenue, a Goldsboro police report said.
The students -- Miracle Best, 9, of Lincoln Drive, Vashon Bowden, 8, of Westview Court, Jasmond White, 8, of Mimosa Street, Kaisheem Faison, 7, of Hollowell Street, Nikki Dixon, 10, of Odell Street and Aaron Mobley, 10, of South Pineview Avenue -- were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The driver, Justin Andrea Williams, 20, of Dickinson Street, Fremont, also was released after emergency-room treatment. Williams was charged with a safe-movement violation. Damage was estimated at $850 to the school bus and $2,500 to the car.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A stereo system was stolen between Sunday and Monday after a car window was smashed at Reborn Auto Sales at 517 N. William St., police said. The stolen property was valued at $1,559.
*A compact disc player was stolen between Saturday and Monday after a car window was broken at Lee Inc. of Goldsboro at 113 S. Berkeley Blvd., police said. The player was valued at $200. Damage was set at $300.
*A man stopped at a convenience store on Elm Street, left his car running and went inside Monday, and when he returned, the car was gone. Victor Humphrey of Pikeville also reported the theft of a wallet that was valued at $20 and had $40 inside. He said his blue, four-door 1994 Ford Taurus was worth $2,500.
*A man left the key under the floor mat in his car Friday at his home in the 700 block of Pou Street, and when he returned Monday, it was gone, police said. Roland Jackson put a $2,000 value on his 1988 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight.
*A 2001 Jeep Cherokee was stolen Monday from the 500 block of Forest Hill Drive. The owner, Merritt Lewis Taylor, said it was valued at $6,500.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*About 30 compact discs, a speaker box and two amplifiers were stolen between Sunday and Monday night from a home in the 200 block of Everittsville Road, near Dudley, sheriff's deputies said. The resident who is moving, Pedro Gonzalez, put a $5,150 value on the missing property. The thief had damaged a door to get inside.
*A gray, four-door 1992 Honda Accord was stolen between Sunday and Monday from the 100 block of Tindale Place, deputies said. The owner and resident, Jose Enriquez III, said the car was worth $2,500.
*A .38 caliber handgun, a power saw and a cordless drill were stolen between Nov. 1 and Monday from an unlocked home in the 200 block of Sun Valley Drive, deputies said. The resident, Robin H. Longley, put a $925 value on the missing property.
Missing
A 17-year-old girl was reported missing Monday to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Jessica Bass of 812 Forehand Road, Pikeville, was described as white, 5-feet-7 and 100 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She has not been seen since Sept. 15 and may be in Columbus County. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
