Burglaries
Wayne County authorities are investigating two weekend burglaries.
A couple was kidnapped, bound and robbed Friday of a rifle in a home in the 100 block of Mobile Circle near Dudley, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
Thomas Ray Smith and Robin Ann West, who live elsewhere in Dudley, told deputies that two black men, dressed in black, barged into the home at about 3:50 p.m., told them to get on the floor, taped their hands, feet and faces and asked where their money was.
The suspects took a rifle, but it was recovered in nearby woods, the report said. The suspects could not be described.
The victims did not receive hospital treatment, a Wayne Memorial spokeswoman said.
A Goldsboro woman told police that a black man knocked on her window early Sunday at her apartment in the 1000 block of Slaughter Street, then pushed in a window air conditioner, damaging the window, and fled south. Gloria D. Peacock estimated damages at $135 at her home.
The burglar was described as being 5-feet-7 and 160 pounds with a medium build, black hair in dreadlocks and black eyes. He wore a burgundy pullover, faded blue jeans and black shoes.
One hurt in wreck
A passenger was injured and damages were estimated at $12,600 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*The passenger was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 12:13 p.m. Saturday on North William Street near 11th Street, Goldsboro police said. Shyette Sutton, 23, of Donaldson Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. She was riding with Hattie Lucille Amerson, 56, of Donaldson Drive. The other driver, Arthur Ray Brown, 58, of Park Avenue, was charged with an improper lane change. Damages were set at $1,100.
*Damages were estimated at $5,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 6:25 a.m. Saturday at U.S. 117 and U.S. 13, the Highway Patrol said. No charges were filed. The report said an eastbound sport utility vehicle driven by Deborah Grace Strickland, 42, of Thunder Swamp Road, Mount Olive, had collided with a northbound car driven by Taqetia Darnette Robinson, 44, of South Breazeale Avenue, Mount Olive.
*Damages were estimated at $6,000 in a three-vehicle wreck at 6:40 p.m. Thursday at N.C. 111 and Spring Bank Road, the Highway Patrol said. A northbound driver, William Ray Rose, 69, of Country Acres Road, was charged with a yield violation. The report said Rose had started a left turn and his pickup truck had collided with a southbound pickup that was driven by Mamerto Rodriguez, 32, of Lorraine Circle, Seven Springs. The impact of the wreck sent the southbound truck into a second northbound vehicle that was following Rose's truck, the report said. The third motorist was identified Paul Dewayne Johnson, 33, of Ada Stroud Road, Seven Springs.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Several vending machines were damaged and several offices were entered and disturbed between Thursday and Friday at Eastpointe at 100 S. James St., police said. The thief had inflicted about $75 in damages to a door to get inside. The amount of other damages was not reported.
*Gunshots on Friday damaged a door glass and a television in a home in the 900 block of South Audubon, police said. No one was injured. Damage was estimated at $125, the resident, Maurice Jermaine Harris, said.
*Video-game equipment and a television were stolen between Saturday and Sunday from a home in the 100 block of Rockefeller Court, police said. The resident, Lisa Blanks, put a $835 value on the property.
Drug charge
A 35-year-old man was arrested Saturday by Goldsboro police charged with a felony drug violation.
Brandon Jones of Buck Run Drive was charged with possession of cocaine and three misdemeanors -- driving while his license was revoked, a stoplight violation and possession of drug paraphernalia -- on East Elm Street. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 bond.
Building burns
A fire that damaged an outbuilding at 103 Hilton Place on Sunday was referred to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for a further investigation.
Pikeville Fire Chief Wesley Wooten determined that the fire was suspicious, the report said. The building is owned by the resident, Bob Davie. The amount of damage was not immediately available.
