Song, dance and a little bit of romance will help rebuild the theater that brought a duet together years ago.

The Downtown Goldsboro Development Corp. announced a new act for its Valentine's Day Downtown campaign, performing duo Addison-Russo.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the reconstruction of the Paramount Theater.

The duo's program, scheduled for 8 p.m. on Feb. 14 at North Carolina Wesleyan College, is called "Love Notes," and will include Broadway numbers, jazz classics and other love songs.

But the program will not only consist of song and dance. During the performance, watercolorist Brenda Behr will create original artwork to be auctioned off at the event.

"We wanted to find a way to combine the performing and visual arts together in a way that has never been done in Goldsboro," Hilary Russo said.

Matthew Addison and Ms. Russo met on the Paramount stage during a performance of "Anything Goes" and have been working together since. Their work has included film, television and commercial spots and currently, the two are working with the theater group Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy in Raleigh.

Addison said was honored by the opportunity to perform in support of the Paramount.

"We've been so fortunate to have such a charitable community that wants to help the cause," he said. "In addition to providing a wonderful and romantic evening of entertainment, we are now able to turn our focus toward raising money for the theater."

Other features of the Valentine's Day Downtown program include horse-drawn trolley rides before "Love Notes" and discounted dining at participating restaurants.

Tax-deductible tickets for the evening are $30 per person or $50 per couple and are available at the DGDC, Wayne County Public Library and Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.
