The paving of some streets in Pikeville is on hold after pavers discovered issues with temporary patchwork.

APAC Paving Co. has stopped paving work in the Collingwood neighborhood after it was discovered that the patches could not withstand the weight of the steamroller used for the paving.

The paving is part of the town's sewer project, scheduled to go online this spring. The streets are being repaved after the installation of sewer lines made patching necessary.

Pikeville town administrator Lonnie Graves said testing on the patches will be conducted and repairs made on faulty patches before paving continues. Paving could start again by the end of the month, Graves said.

The roads affected are Mill and Pope streets, Collingwood Drive, Baker Drive, Stewart Avenue and Tina Avenue.
