Wayne County people now have the opportunity to get fit through a program sponsored by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service and the health promotion program of the Wayne County Health Department.
Wayne Gets Fit! will start Jan. 24 and run through April 10. It will be every Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 and again from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wayne Center.
There is a $10 nonrefundable fee plus a $10 kitty fee. All kitty money will be pooled and those meeting their goals at the end of the program will split it.
Christine Smith, extension agent, said Wayne Gets Fit! is a support group of coworkers and friends who want to increase their total wellness. Topics will include setting realistic goals, eating smart at home, eating smart on the run, fat finders, dieting, bulking up to slim down, moving more every day and everywhere, relaxing and releasing, portion control, the glycemic index, holiday eating and maintenance.
Advance registration is required by Jan. 23. Send it to the Extension Service at P.O. Box 68, Goldsboro, 27533. For information, call 731-1525.
