Teen sought in death of Dudley man

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday night near Dudley, and another man is being sought for the murder.
The victim, Jarrett Ledairis Garner of 1172 Old Mount Olive Road, was shot at about 6:30 p.m. in a home on Colonel Warrick Drive, where he was visiting friends.
Andre Monterio Todd, 17, developed as the suspect after an intense, two-hour investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. A warrant was issued, charging Todd with the murder.

Detectives said Garner was wounded in the leg and then was driven by another man to Wayne Memorial Hospital. Garner was pronounced dead upon his arrival at the emergency room.
At about 6:50 p.m., the Wayne County 911 center was notified about the shooting, and dispatchers then informed deputies, who went to the hospital.
Detective Sgt. Robert Chunn arrived at the hospital, initiated an investigation and notified other officers. Reports said Garner had been with a friend at the home and an argument allegedly ensued between Garner and the defendant.
An autopsy was to be conducted today at the chief medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill to determine the cause of death.
Sheriff Carey Winders, Capts. George Raecher and John Winstead, Lts. Tom Effler and Darryl Overton, patrol Sgt. Sherwood Daly and Cpl. Richard Blizzard assisted in the initial investigation.
Todd remains at large. He is known to frequent areas in Goldsboro, Dudley and Fremont and he recently lived near apartments on Myrtle Drive in the Mar Mac community. Detectives said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Detective Sgts. Chunn and Dean Roscoe were assigned to lead the investigation.
Anyone with information on Todd's location was asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 731-1481 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous, and they might be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000, if their information leads to an arrest.
