Investigations
These incidents are being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office:
* An unknown suspect used Kevin Jones' debit card to make two transactions in Mexico, according to a report. Jones of Pikeville was informed of the transactions totaling $970.57 by his bank.
* A construction site at the 300 block of Gator Street was damaged by unknown suspects between 9 a.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday. According to the report, unknown people forced entry into the home and damaged a door frame, copper tubing and the interior bathroom. They loaded about 300 square feet of wood flooring into a white truck. Witnesses believed the truck to be a Mitsubishi, according to the report. Damages were estimated at $1,050.
* Deputies were called to the 100 block of Timothy Street in Dudley at 1:45 p.m. Friday to respond to vandalism of an automobile. Marcus Battle, 23, told deputies his 1984 gray Chrysler was spray painted on the driver's side door. Damage was estimated at $500.
On the same block, a person spray painted the initials "JLF," "TTF" and "ADF" on two electrical power boxes. The estimated damage was reported at $100.
These incidents are being investigated by the Goldsboro Police Department:
* Goldsboro police officers were called to the 1000 block of Barry Street following a burglary report. Natoya Robinson, 26, saw two people in the house, according to the police report. After yelling at the people, Robinson said they left on foot and entered a field located west of the house, according to the report.
* Phatboy Video Games in the1000 block of North Berkeley Boulevard was broken into at 5:50 a.m. Friday. Someone shattered the glass door by firing a handgun into the window, according to the report. The broken glass caused an alarm to inform the police of the intrusion. Before police came to the scene, 35 video games, valued at $1,700, were stolen, according to the report. Other damage was set at $500.
* Between 7:45 and 9:55 a.m. Friday someone broke out a window on the south side of a business at the 1100 block of North William Street and stole a cash register, according to the police report. Al Floyd, 60 of Goldsboro, told police he was going to the business to pick up some items when he saw the damage. The window was valued at $65 while the cash register was valued at $200.
* Police were called to the 200 block of West Walnut Street at 8 a.m. Friday to investigate the breaking and entering and larceny of Peggy's Beauty Salon. Someone broke a window using a brick and stole a DVD player, according to the police report. Peggy Ward estimated the value of the window and the DVD player at $200. According to the report, the theft occurred between 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday morning.
* Hilda Hicks told police an unknown subject entered the Dillard Academy, located at the 500 block of West Elm Street, between 6 p.m. Thursday and 12:50 p.m. Friday. According to the police report, the suspect entered the building by breaking a window out with a brick. According to the report, a 13-inch color TV valued at $50 was stolen. The estimated value of the window is $75.
* Following a check of store inventory, Koki Faasii, an employee of the Radio Shack located at the 400 block of North Berkeley Boulevard, called police to report stolen items. Faasii told authorities that a Sony camcorder, Kodak camera, Canon camcorder, three personal digital assistants, a wireless messenger and two Playstation 2 memory cards were stolen between noon and 2:30 p.m. Friday. The stolen property is valued at about $1,380.
Collision
While traveling southbound on U.S. 117 near U.S. 70, Matthew Dixon, 19 of Goldsboro, told police he fell asleep at the wheel and gained consciousness after wrecking his vehicle. Witnesses said Dixon's vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving erratically before running off the road into a concrete culvert in a ditch, according to the report.
Upon impact, the car flipped in the air and landed right side up facing west. Dixon was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital. The Goldsboro police charged Dixon with careless and reckless driving, according to the report.
