Shooting probed
Michael Laron Jacobs, 46, of Workman Street, reported that a man shot through his storm door, causing about $150 in damages.
Jacobs said he saw the suspect enter a house across the street with a handgun. Another neighbor said she had heard gunshots and had seen the suspect.
The shooter was described as being black, about 22 years old with black hair and brown eyes.
Two hurt in wrecks
Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $12,900 in four weekend traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A southbound driver was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 2 p.m. Sunday at West Ash Street and North Georgia Avenue, police said. Margie F. Jones, 59, of Parks Road was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. The other driver, Gladys C. Best, 74, of Luther Drive, was charged with an improper turn. The report said Ms. Best was making a right turn and her sport utility vehicle collided with Ms. Jones' stopped auto. Damages were set at $2,200.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-car crash at 2:27 a.m. Saturday at U.S. 117 and U.S. 13, police said. A westbound driver, Joshua Lee Salas, 27, of Rockingham, was charged with a stoplight violation, false information, no operator's license and suspicion of driving while impaired. The report said the car that Salas was driving had collided with a northbound auto that was driven by Rose Marie Otero, 46, of Twin Creeks Drive.
*Damages were estimated at $5,300 in a two-car wreck at 9:26 p.m. Friday at North Herman and East Beech streets, police said. A northbound motorist, George Raymond Sohl, 19, of Chandler Road, was charged with a yield violation. The report said Sohl was making a left turn and the car that he was driving had collided with an oncoming, southbound auto. The other driver was identified as Kenneth Terrell Ford, 30, of South Herman Street.
*A Goldsboro driver was injured in a two-car collision at 2 p.m. Friday on Cuyler Best Road near an exit ramp to Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, police said. Catherine B. Johnson, 55, of North Berkeley Boulevard was released after emergency-room treatment, a spokeswoman said. The other southbound driver, Michael Bernard Bourdon, 43, of Pinecrest Drive, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. Damages were put at $400.
Car fire
A car was set on fire Friday night in the 100 block of Inez Drive, according to reports filed with Wayne County authorities.
The fire followed an argument between two residents in the home, a sheriff's deputy reported. The interior of a silver Chevrolet Lumina sustained about $2,000 in damages, the report said.
New Hope and Pinewood volunteer firefighters responded to the 8:30 p.m. alarm and put out the fire. No charges have been filed.
Break-ins
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Twelve video games and eight DVD movies were stolen Saturday from a home in the 100 block of Woods Drive near Dudley, deputies said. The thief had damaged a door to get inside, the report said. The resident, Jack Earl Thomas, estimated the value of the stolen property at $220 and damage at $150. A video-game system also was stolen but was recovered.
*A cash game and 2,000 scratch-off tickets were stolen Saturday after a window was smashed at Johnny's Pizza and Convenient Mart at 766 N.C. 111 South, deputies said. The stolen property was valued at $3,500. Damage was set at $300.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A freezer, a couch, a microwave oven, two end tables and two lamps were stolen between Dec. 18 and Saturday after a window was shattered at a vacant home in the 100 block of Basil Street, police said. A love seat also was damaged. The owner, Rogene Worrell of Goldsboro, estimated the value of the stolen property at $620 and damages at $115.
*A screen door was stolen and vinyl siding was damaged between Nov. 20 and Saturday from a home in the 1200 block of North John Street, police said. The owner. Alvin Smith of Goldsboro, put a $150 value on the door and set damage at $100.
Weapons charges
A 26-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Sunday by Goldsboro police in the 300 block of South William Street and charged with two felony weapons violations.
Christopher Alton Tann of Rudolph Street was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number. He also was charged with misdemeanor possession of a concealed weapon. Tann was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
Drug charge
A Goldsboro man was arrested Saturday by Goldsboro police and charged with a felony drug offense in the 400 block of North George Street.
Kenneth Dixon, 29, of Isler Street was charged with possession of a counterfeit controlled substance and two misdemeanors, assault on a law-enforcement officer and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $6,000 bond.
