clerk robbed

Amanda R. Harrison, 22, an employee of Berkeley Cinema 4 on Cashwell Drive, told police that an unknown suspect entered the theater around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The man jumped the counter, shattering the glass, and grabbed Ms. Harrison's purse, before leaving in a silver Chevrolet Lumina. The suspect was described as approximately 23 years old, black male standing 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black coat and dark pants. Damage to the counter was set at $400. The purse and items were valued at $525.

Investigations

Wayne County law-enforcement officials are investigating the following incidents:

*A JVC car stereo valued at $130 was stolen from a 1993 Honda Accord, Robert Joseph Velez, 22, of West Lockhaven Drive, told police Tuesday afternoon.

*Lolita Shickle, an employee at New Covenant Fellowship Church on East Mulberry Street, reported $100 of damage to a door and lock when she returned to her office Tuesday afternoon. No other items were reported damaged or missing.

*Items valued at $200 were missing, and $100 of damage was reported at the home of Bryin Crawford, 31, of East Elm Street. Crawford returned home Tuesday afternoon to find the back door ajar, and the door and frame damaged. A Playstation2 game system and game were reported missing.

*One man was transported to the emergency room at Wayne Memorial Hospital after Goldsboro police responded to a fight on Workman Street. Tim W. Edmundson, was treated and released Tuesday. He told officers a black male, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 250 pounds hit him with a golf club. Edmundson did not know the man's name, only that he responded to the alias "Blue Boy."

*Employees of Doug Henry automobile dealership reported $350 damage to a glass door after finding a broken bottle in the sales office Tuesday morning.

*Items valued at $1,600 were missing from a residence on Humphrey Street early Wednesday. An unknown person entered the residence through a bedroom door, tearing a screen and breaking a window. A closet door was also damaged. Total damage was reported at $45.

Wreck

James Chase Serlich, 21, of North Goldsboro Street, Pikeville, was charged with failure to reduce speed after his 2000 Chevrolet collided on Berkeley Boulevard with a 1995 Chevrolet driven by Zachary Michael Mack, 22, of Ream Street. Damage to Serlich's vehicle was reported at $3,500, while damage to Mack's vehicle was set at $1,000.
