MOUNT OLIVE -- Highway Patrol officials are looking for a yellow Dodge Neon they think might have been involved in the hit-and-run death of a Mount Olive area man.

Adrian E. Jones, 83, was hit in the middle of the street near his home on Tram Road at about 4:40 a.m. on Nov. 26.

Highway Patrol investigators say that while the skid marks indicate that the driver swerved to avoid hitting Jones, the car did not stop after the impact. Officials said it is likely the car hit Jones with its right front fender.

They say the Neon should have some damage to the front right quarter panel as well as a broken headlight.

Anyone with information about the car or the accident should call the Kenansville office of the North Carolina Highway Patrol at 910-296-1311.

After weeks of no information on the case, investigators said they followed leads that lead them to a witness who said he saw a yellow Dodge Neon in the vicinity of Tram Road at that time of night.

Investigation into the death is continuing.
