Counties 'most wanted' list

Wayne County Department of Social Services released its own "most wanted" poster this week, announcing the top 12 delinquent and absent parents being sought for non-payment of child support.
A poster with information about each of the 12 was released by the Child Support Enforcement arm of the department on Tuesday. The list appears on the county Web site, waynegov.com and is linked to other state and national agencies.
Child support enforcement agent Diane Beason said her office has already received responses.
"We were notified by the Sheriff's Office about it," she said. "One out of 12 in less than 24 hours I thought was good."
This is the third time such an effort has been made to locate absent parents to collect outstanding child support. The last was in 1996, Ms. Beason said.
The public is asked to help in locating the county's most wanted delinquent absent parents who owe more than $308,922 on their court-ordered child support payments, she said. Their current whereabouts and employers are unknown, even though the poster indicates the last known address.
"We would like to thank the public for their response which will help provide information in locating these delinquent absent parents," Ms. Beason said. "We will request and need your continued support by providing us with pertinent information that may lead to (their location)."
The list, along with the amount owed, includes the following:

*Richard Wayne Bailey, 39, Wayne County, $14,336.
*Alton Jericho Best, 52, Wayne County, $40,300.
*Robert Dixon Best, 35, Wayne County, $26,175.
*James Edward Dawson, Jr., 42, Wilson County, $34,445.
*Melissa Carol Lapp Fordham, 39, Wayne County, $1,500.
*Alex Keith Hash, 40, Forsyth County, $69,614.
*Donald Ray Johnson, 42, Washington, D.C., $12,480.
*Ronnie Lee Kornegay, 37, Georgia, $19,492.
*Lowman Darryl Pauling, 39, Forsyth County, $14,552.
*Elton Ray Strickland, 33, Wayne County, $25,189.
*Jerry Marvin Wray Jr., 36, Rockingham County, $40,427.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts, employment or residence of those being sought can call the Wayne County Child Support Enforcement Office at 731-1543 and leave a voice message. All information will be kept confidential and the caller may remain anonymous.
