Two motorists were charged by Goldsboro police with driving while impaired during the third reporting period of the winter "Booze It and Lose It" campaign against drunken drivers.

Police held two checkpoints and eight saturation and random patrols during the period between Nov. 28 and Sunday.

Three people were charged with seat-belt violations, 74 for speeding, 23 for driving while their license was revoked, two for other license violations and 107 for other traffic offenses. Police also filed eight criminal charges.

Since the semi-annual campaign started Nov. 18, police have charged 19 people with driving while impaired, 14 with seat-belt violations, nine with child-restraint violations, 273 with speeding, 63 with driving while their license was revoked, two for not having a license and 251 with other traffic offenses.

Police also have lodged 12 drug charges and 29 other criminal charges. They have recovered one stolen vehicle and found two fugitives.

The statewide campaign extends through Christmas until Jan. 1.
