Trio is charged
in car break-ins
Three teenagers were arrested Wednesday by Goldsboro police and charged with multiple offenses in connection with numerous vehicle break-ins in the Mimosa Park and Maplewood subdivisions.
Christopher Mark Tadlock, 19, of Old Black Creek Road, Fremont, was charged with nine felony counts of breaking and entering of a vehicle, two felony counts of larceny and six misdemeanor counts of larceny. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
Andrew Wayne Clark, 18, of Stuckey Road, Fremont, was charged with 11 felony counts of breaking and entering of a vehicle, two felony counts of larceny and eight misdemeanor counts of larceny. He was jailed in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.
Christopher Dale Mooring, 18, of Stan Ray Road, Fremont, was charged with six felony counts of breaking and entering of a vehicle and six misdemeanor counts of larceny. His secured bond was set at $25,000.
Police Investigator Dale Foster said the break-ins occurred Nov. 4 and Nov. 10
Each teen was to have his first court appearance today to determine his legal representation.
Burglary arrest
Horton
A 42-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Wednesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with first-degree burglary and common-law robbery.
Jimmy Horton of Fussell Street was accused of kicking in a door at a home on Bryan Boulevard in Mar Mac early Monday and stealing $200 and a bottle of wine, Detective Sgt. Mike Reid said.
One of the three occupants recognized the intruder who had been served in 2004 with a domestic violence protection order, Reid said.
Horton was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $42,500 secured bond.
Fugitive nabbed
Parsons
A man wanted by federal authorities was captured Wednesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in his home in the 2100 block of Rosewood Road.
Randy Chester Parsons, 43, was wanted by the U.S. Marshal Service and the Federal Probation Office on a probation violation concerning his involvement in a 1998 bank robbery in Goldsboro.
Deputies had received an anonymous tip about Parsons' location from Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers. After the information was verified, they went to the home and, with the help of a search dog, found Parsons hiding in a bedroom. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
Detective Sgt. Mike Reid, Detective Richard Winders and Deputy Jayson Hill arrested Parsons.
Teen assaulted
An 18-year-old man was assaulted Wednesday night by three men in the 100 block of Trailwood Drive, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Danny Maurice Taylor was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.
Taylor was assaulted by three black men, about 16 to 20 years old, at about 9:50 p.m., the report said. One had asked for a cigarette, and when Taylor said he had none, the suspects then approached him, and one struck him in the head with a baseball bat, the report said.
Taylor was knocked unconscious, and a witness said the suspects fled into woods behind Trailwood Drive, the report said.
2 drivers injured
Two drivers were injured and damages were estimated at $33,200 Wednesday in five traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured and damages were estimated at $6,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 10:54 a.m. Wednesday at North Spence Avenue and a ramp to Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, police said. Sharon T. Lewis, 29, of Valleyview Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. A southbound driver, Ellene W. Cole, 53, of Kinston was charged with a stoplight violation. Ms. Lewis was making a left turn from a northbound ramp, the report said.
*An eastbound driver from Goldsboro was injured in a two-vehicle, rear-end crash at 12:42 p.m. Wednesday at Cashwell Drive and North Berkeley Boulevard, police said. Steven Linwood Sasser, 51, of Azalea Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. The other motorist, Linda W. Allen, 58, of Erik Drive, Dudley, was charged with failure to reduce speed. Damages were set at $700.
*Damages were estimated at $11,500 in a two-vehicle wreck at 8:29 a.m. Wednesday at West Grantham and North Virginia streets, police said. A northbound driver, Sharlene Moses, 46, of North George Street, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Ms. Moses' car had collided with an eastbound pickup truck that was driven by Jim Raeford Jones Jr., 46, of Westbrook Road.
*Damages were put at $10,000 in a two-car collision at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday on Royall Avenue near North Spence Avenue, police said. A motorist leaving a parking lot, Lauren Kathleen McInerney, 21, of West Lockhaven Drive, was charged with a yield violation. The report said Ms. McInerney's car had collided with a westbound auto that was driven by Rico Leandray Dawson, 37, of Central Heights Road.
*A truck crashed into the railroad bridge over North Carolina Street at 9:46 p.m. Thursday, causing about $5,000 in damages to the vehicle, police said. The driver, Fernando Develle Best, 32, of Winston-Salem, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The bridge was not damaged.
False pretense
A man from Raleigh was arrested Wednesday by Goldsboro police and charged with obtaining property by false pretense.
Emmitt Ross Melvin III, 38, was accused of cashing a counterfeit check at Cash Express in June, Investigator Mike Moore said. Melvin was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $4,500 bond.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*Two safes, one with a coin collection and both with personal items, and a small television were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from a home in the 100 block of Lakehurst Drive near Dudley, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, Jay A. Cochrane, put a $1,500 on the stolen property. No sign of forced entry was reported.
*A video-game controller was stolen Wednesday after an interior door was broken at a home in the 1000 block of Evergreen Avenue, Goldsboro police said. The controller was valued at $120. Damage was set at $75 at Janice Lamb's home.
