Goldsboro man killed in wreck

A Goldsboro man was killed Friday in a three-vehicle collision at Salem Church and Stoney Hill roads and Chancery Drive, the Highway Patrol reported today.
The victim was identified as Lloyd Quenton Price, 78, of 121 Rowe St.
State Trooper J.S. Smith reported that Price was traveling east on Chancery Drive across Salem Church Road to Stoney Hill Road and did not yield to a northbound pickup truck and the vehicles collided. The impact of the crash sent the pickup that was driven by Angela Marlene Martin, 41, of Aycock Street into a stopped westbound van that was driven by Charles Gerald Nail, 44, of Hounds Run Drive. The vehicles stopped in the intersection.
Five other people also were injured in the 5:30 p.m. wreck. A spokeswoman at Wayne Memorial Hospital said Price's wife, Faye, 76, was airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. But a Pitt spokeswoman said she could find no record on her condition.
Ms. Martin, 41, and her passenger, Kurt Fischer, 38, of Aycock Street, and two passengers in the van, Harold Nail, 75, and Dianne Nail, 47, both of Hickory, were rushed by a Wayne County ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and released, a spokeswoman said.
Price's 2001 Ford, valued at $9,000, was demolished. Damage was estimated at $3,500 to Charles Nail's 2002 Chevrolet van and $2,500 to the 2002 Dodge pickup that Ms. Martin was driving. The pickup was registered to William Emil Fischer of Sunflower Drive.
The traffic fatality was the 19th this year on Wayne County roads, including three in Goldsboro.
