Teens charged
Two teenagers were arrested before dawn today after Goldsboro police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the McDonalds restaurant parking lot on Wayne Memorial Drive.
Jeremy Edward Jenkins, 18, of Durham Lake Road, Dudley, and Broderick Jermaine Randall, 19, of Raleigh were charged with felonious possession of stolen property. Each was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
About $1,500 worth of recording equipment was recovered from the vehicle. The property had been reported stolen in October.
Garage fire
A small garage at 103 Grey Stone Drive was destroyed Thursday night in a fire of an undermined cause, a fire official said.
Mar Mac Volunteer Fire Chief Bill Harrell said the fire could have been resulted from one of several reasons but he could not pinpoint a specific cause.
The garage was valued at about $2,500 and contents at $5,000, Harrell said.
The fire also blistered the paint on a neighbor's truck and damaged vinyl siding on his home.
About 15 Mar Mac firefighters answered the 7:30 p.m. call with three trucks. Thoroughfare and Grantham volunteers assisted.
7 hurt in wrecks
Seven people were injured and damages were estimated at $43,100 in seven recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at 1:13 p.m. Thursday at Patetown Road and Alpha Court, Goldsboro police said. Clarence Benjamin Bynum, 81, and his passenger, Annie G. Bynum, 71, both of Patetown Road, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokesman said. The other driver, Michael Kevin Acree, 46, of South Marion Drive, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. Damages were set at $4,500
*Damages were estimated at $7,500 in a two-car crash at 2:05 p.m. Thursday at East Ash Street and North Audubon Avenue, police said. A westbound driver making a left turn, Anthony Duane Stoner, 47, of Free Gospel Road, Snow Hill, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Stoner's car collided with an oncoming, eastbound auto that was driven by Regina P. Price, 51, of N.C. 55 East, Seven Springs.
*A car slammed into a doctor's office at 2111 N. William St. at 11 a.m. Thursday, causing about $10,000 in damages, police said. The driver, William Joseph Lazenby of East John Street, Mount Olive, was neither injured nor charged. He told police that his foot slipped from the brake and hit the gas pedal. Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the car and $5,000 to Dr. Karlus Artis' office.
*Two people were injured in a one-car wreck at 1:38 p.m. Wednesday on Norwayne School Road near Ballance Road, the Highway Patrol said. Aaron Levier Jones, 17, and his passenger, William King, 18, both of Whitley Street, were released after emergency-room treatment. Jones was charged with reckless driving. The car, valued at $4,500, was demolished.
*A driver was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 3:21 p.m. Monday on O'Berry Road near St. Matthews Road, the Highway Patrol said. William Dewie Rackley, 59, of Old Mount Olive Road, Dudley, was released after emergency-room treatment. Joshua Lee Rayfield, 17, of Edwards Store Road, Mount Olive, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. Damages were fixed at $3,300.
*A Fremont driver was injured and damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-truck crash at 10:56 a.m. Sunday on Pikeville-Princeton Road near Nahunta Road, the Highway Patrol said. Poppy Lee Heath, 41, of East Main Street was released after emergency-room treatment. She was charged with a yield violation. The other driver was listed as Jimmy Allen Wise, 63, of N.C. 222 East, Eureka.
*A northbound driver was injured in a two-vehicle wreck at 11:58 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 117 Alternate near Sleepy Creek Road, the Highway Patrol said. Betty Lynn Dunn, 32, of U.S. 117 Alternate, Dudley, was released after emergency-room treatment. She was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end wreck. Damages were set at $4,300.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A total of $130 was stolen between Thursday and dawn today from A&K Grill at 1801 S. John St. The thief had smashed a window and damaged a cash register to get the money. Damages were put at $500.
*A television, a gas heater and a bed were stolen between Nov. 11 and Thursday after a window and a door were damaged at a home in the 2400 block of North William Street. The stolen property was valued at $999. Damages were set at $40.
*A shotgun was stolen between Wednesday and Thursday after a window was smashed at a home in the 400 block of North Audubon Avenue. The owner, Lynn Wilson of Archdale, said the firearm was worth $150. Damages were estimated at $125.
*A total of $200 in cash and $600 in silver dimes were stolen between Tuesday and Thursday from a home in the 600 block of Woodberry Drive. No sign of forced entry was reported at Earl Davis' home.
Firearms stolen
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*An estimated $2,404 worth of firearms was stolen Thursday after a door was damaged at a home in the 3100 block of Indian Springs Road. The resident, Bobby Mitchell Tyndall, also reported the theft of $125 in change, a safe and a pitcher, valued at $200. The firearms included four shotguns, a carbine, a rifle and a derringer. Damage was set at $50.
*A black leather jacket, 53 DVDs, a compact disc player and a combination DVD player and video cassette recorder were stolen Thursday from a home in the 100 block of Crabapple Lane. The resident, Justin Ray Parrish, put a $1,250.
