Five teenagers face multiple felony charges

Five Wayne County teenagers were arrested Thursday and charged by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office with multiple felony offenses in connection break-ins at a convenience store in Eureka and numerous vehicles.
The defendants were linked to as many as 15 break-ins this week in Rosewood and Eureka. They were charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. They were placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of secured bonds ranging up to $200,000.
"I hope the citizens in the north end of the county feel some relief from this crime spree that has been going on in their neighborhoods," Sheriff Carey Winders said. "Rest assured, we are not done with these cases. We are looking for other subjects we believe were involved."
More arrests are possible, said Sheriff's Capt. George Raecher, who supervises the investigations division. He said additional charges will be sought through indictments from the Wayne County Grand Jury.
The teens were arrested at about midnight Thursday after a traffic stop at the city limits by Goldsboro police Officer J.F. Smith. Much of the property, including 80 cartons of cigarettes, three boxes of cigars and two propane tanks that were stolen from the Eureka Mini Mart, has been recovered. The property was valued at about $3,000.
One defendant, Mark Allen Clark, 16, of Stuckey Road, Fremont, escaped last week from Dobbs Center in Kinston, then allegedly stole a truck and drove back to Wayne County. The truck was recovered Wednesday outside of Fremont.
Raecher thanked Detective Sgts. Shawn Harris and Dean Roscoe, the lead investigators, for their work in the case. Detective Sgts. Rick Farfour and Carl Lancaster, Deputy Chuck Arnold, Goldsboro police Investigator Dale Foster and Fremont and Pikeville police assisted in the investigation.
The defendants and their charges and bonds are:
*Mark Allen Clark, 16, Stuckey Road, Fremont, breaking and entering (five counts), larceny (four counts) and possession of stolen goods (three counts), $200,000 bond.
*Andrew Wayne Clark, 18, Stuckey Road, Fremont, breaking and entering (five counts), larceny (two counts) and possession of stolen goods, $200,000 bond.
*Christopher Dale Mooring, 18, Saulston Road, breaking and entering, larceny (two counts) and possession of stolen goods, $100,000 bond.
*Mark Christopher Tadlock, 19, Old Black Creek Road, Fremont, breaking and entering (three counts), larceny (three counts) and possession of stolen goods, $100,000 bond.
*Brandon Matthew Hill, 18, South Chestnut Street, Fremont, possession of stolen goods (two counts), $75,000 bond.
Tadlock also was charged by Goldsboro police with four felony offenses in connection with break-ins in the Maplewood and Mimosa Park subdivisions. He was charged with two counts each of breaking and entering and larceny. His secured bond was set at $2,000. Investigator Foster said more arrests and charges are possible. A and B-shift officers assisted in the investigation.
