Drug charges
Two men have been arrested by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with three felony drug offenses, including trafficking in cocaine by possession.
Miguel Angel Aldaco, 35, and Azucena Mairena-Zapata, 47, both of Covey Drive, LaGrange, also were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling cocaine and marijuana. Each was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.
The Goldsboro Police Department's Housing Authority unit and the Wayne County Sheriff's Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team assisted in the investigation.
5 vehicles collide
Damages were estimated at $11,600 in a five-vehicle collision Tuesday on South Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 117 bypass, Goldsboro police said.
One driver, Kelsey Renae Seymour, 24, of Louise Circle, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision at 3:28 p.m.
The report said Ms. Seymour was changing lanes, could not stop in time and the sport utility that she was driving collided with a car driven by Vivian Locklear, 44, of North George Street, setting off a chain-reaction accident.
The other motorists had stopped for traffic. They were identified as Jennette Outlaw Pride, 39, of Washington Avenue, Mount Olive; David Elisarrarez Caracoso, 31, of U.S. 13 North, and Jenny Lynn Kornegay, 26, of South Beston Road, LaGrange.
In other collisions:
*A driver was injured in a one-vehicle wreck at 2:07 p.m. Tuesday on Patetown Road near Ashley Drive, police said. Coleen C. Leeper, 43, of East Raintree Lane was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was charged with failure to reduce speed. The report said the sport utility vehicle had run off the right side and struck a concrete ditch bank. The SUV, valued at $15,000, was demolished. Other damage was set at $500.
*Damages were set at $8,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday at Sunburst Drive and Royall Avenue, police said. One driver, Alba Sonia Gomez, 48, of Lake Artesia Road, Faison, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said. Ms. Gomez had started to make a left turn from Sunburst Drive and her sport utility vehicle collided with a westbound SUV. The other driver was listed as Cathy Ann Sauls, 21, of Third Street.
*Both drivers were charged and damages were estimated at $8,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 3:38 p.m. Tuesday on North Claiborne Street near East Beech Street, police said. Ruby Vick, 49, of North Claiborne Street was charged with a yield violation. Ruby Gayle, 28, of South George Street was charged with exceeding a safe speed. The report said Ms. Vick had pulled from a driveway and her car collided with the northbound pickup truck that Ms. Gayle was driving.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-car crash at 9:28 a.m. Tuesday on East Elm Street near South Berkeley Boulevard, police said. One driver, Candice R. Marshall, 24, of Lee Drive, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said she was making a right turn from the left lane and her car collided with another auto that was driven by Roland Anthony Taylor, 64, of New Hope Road, LaGrange.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*An employee at Community Federal Credit Union at 2401 E. Ash St. said a woman used the identification card of her late mother twice to get money from the mother's account, police said. The suspect got $1,240, the report said.
*A former employee at Precision Tune Auto Care at 602 N. Spence Ave. got a day off and did not show up the next day for work, police said. The employee was in charge of night deposits, and the report said none had been made since Thursday. The missing money totaled $1,795.13, the report said.
*About $2,150 worth of property, including entertainment equipment, a leather jacket and two cameras, was stolen Tuesday from an apartment in the 1900 block of Peachtree Street, police said. The thief had smashed a window to get inside. The property included 70 compact discs, two DVD players and three speakers.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Two hand-held computers and a wallet with $51 and personal papers were stolen before dawn today after a brick was thrown through a car window in the 400 block of South Cottonwood Drive, sheriff's deputies said. One resident, Laverna Jean Horton, put a $221 value on one hand-held computer, the wallet and the papers. The other resident, Jeffrey Thomas Horton, said his computer was worth $200.
*A silver 1992 Chevrolet Lumina, seven dog feeders and five lawn chairs were stolen between Saturday and Tuesday from a home on Arrington Bridge Road, deputies said. The owner, Amy Zielinski of Wallace, said the car was worth $4,800, and the other property was valued at $2,900.
