Staff and students at Goldsboro High School will experience a time change of their own on Wednesday, starting and dismissing 15 minutes later.
The Wayne County school board approved the revised schedule Monday night to accommodate a request from Goldsboro Principal Patricia Burden.
Classes have not been dismissed before 3:45 p.m. and sometimes as late as 3:50 p.m., Ms. Burden said. Closing time was initially scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The board approved her request, changing the hours from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. for students, with teachers arriving at 8:15 a.m. and ending their day at 4 p.m.
As a result, the school system's transportation department will have to arrange new pick up and drop off times.
The change will not affect bus schedules for feeder schools.
