Information sought

on fatal collision

The Highway Patrol is seeking information on a fatal collision involving a bicycle and a tractor-trailer truck Oct. 13 on U.S. 13 South.

Douglas Alan Harrell, 21, of 147 Hood Drive, was riding north at about 9:16 p.m. when his bicycle was struck by the big rig between Sandhill Drive and Durham Lake Road, near Dereck Drive.

The truck driver, Nathan Junior Loften, 39, of Delaney Place, Dudley, has told troopers that another vehicle was involved but the other driver did not stop. No charges have been filed.

Anyone with information on the collision was asked to call the Highway Patrol office in Goldsboro at 731-7960.

Drug charges

A 58-year-old man was arrested Friday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with a felony drug offense and other violations at the M&M Club at 2304 N. William St.

Hubert Ferrell of U.S. 117 North was charged with possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol at an unlicensed place and failure to supervise the building. His bond was set at $1,500.

During the investigation, Anthony Scott Bunn, 29, of James Adams Lane, Mount Olive, was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was released on a written promise.

Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers assisted in the investigation.

Four hurt in wrecks

Four people were injured and damages were estimated at $44,600 in five weekend traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.

*One driver was injured in a three-car collision at 10:20 a.m. Saturday on South Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway near West Elm Street, police said. Dorsey Kimberly Mason, 27, of Hookerton was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Another driver, Carrie Michelle McNabb, 22, of Clover Ridge Court, Dudley, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. The third motorist was identified as Pattie R. Cherry, 50, of William King Road, Mount Olive. Damages were set at $4,600.

*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-car crash at 3:06 p.m. Friday at Royall Avenue and Clingman Street, police said. One driver, Susan Marie Britt, 37, of Royall Avenue, and a passenger, Wendy Herron, 45, of South Andrews Avenue, were released after emergency-room treatment. The other driver, Michael Terrell Green, 21, of Bain Street, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end crash.

*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $15,000 in a two-vehicle wreck at 7:25 a.m. Friday at New Hope Road and Hines Drive, police said. Crystal Leigh Gray, 25, of Mark Edwards Road, LaGrange, was released after emergency-room treatment. The other driver, Dewey Edward Offield Jr., 54, of Burch Drive, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Offield was pulling from Hines Drive and his pickup truck collided with Ms. Gray's eastbound sport utility vehicle.

*Damages were put at $11,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 5:27 p.m. Friday at the service road and an exit to Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway near the Best Western Goldsboro Inn, police said. One driver, John Douglas Marti Jr., 34, of East Holly Street, was charged with a safe-movement violation after the rear-end collision. The other motorist was listed as Thomas Earl Barwick, 50, of Clayton.

*Damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-car crash at 10:28 a.m. Friday at East Elm Street and South Oleander Avenue, police said. A northbound driver, Pauline T. Moore, 63, of East Walnut Street, was charged with a safe-movement violation at a stop sign. The report said Ms. Moore's auto had collided with a westbound car that was driven by Nakisha T. Floyd, 29, of Beech Street.

Three charges

A 30-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Friday by Goldsboro police and charged with three felony offenses.

Carlos Reshaen Wright of Edgerton Street was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury, discharge of a firearm in the city and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Wright was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.

Investigations

Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:

*Eleven cellular phones and $1,165 were stolen between Thursday and Friday from Sunset Wireless Inc. at 112 Five Points Road, sheriff's deputies said. The phones were valued at $2,890. No sign of forced entry was reported.

*A compact disc player, an amplifier, a speaker, a portable CD player, a Bible and checks were stolen between Thursday and Friday from a vehicle in the 200 block of North Harding Drive, Goldsboro police said. The thief had smashed a window to get inside. The owner and resident, Richard Jones, estimated the value of the stolen property at $930 and damage at $100.

*About $90 in coins was stolen between Thursday and Friday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Woods Drive near Dudley, deputies said. The resident, A.J. McLeod, estimated damage at $150.
