Dr. Jack St. Clair has been named director at Cherry Hospital, it was announced this morning. He will assume his duties effective Dec. 1.
St. Clair comes to the position from Eastpointe Human Services where he has served as director since 1997. He was previously with the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services and had served in a variety of leadership and management roles with the division, including director of Black Mountain Center.
He follows Dr. Jim Osberg, who had been serving as interim director at Cherry since the retirement of Dr. Jerry Edwards. Osberg is now at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh.
In making the announcement, Michael Moseley, Director of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, said, "Dr. St. Clair brings a wealth of knowledge about community and facility based services and has experience in leading programs serving a wide spectrum of people who receive DHHS support.
"We are looking forward to Dr. St. Clair going to Cherry Hospital and we are confident that he will bring a very progressive, positive and constructive management agenda with him."
Cherry Hospital is a 403-bed in-patient psychiatric hospital serving 33 eastern North Carolina counties.
