Police car rammed
by driver in chase
A 25-year-old driver rammed a Goldsboro police car today after being stopped following a high-speed, predawn chase, according to police reports.
Kimberly Diane Harrison of Beaver Drive, Dudley, was seen while driving erratically by Officer Jeff Beeken at 1 a.m. on Mulberry Street near Herman Street. He pursued the driver, but she took off. Other officers joined the pursuit, and the driver stopped in a driveway in the 200 block of A Street, reports said.
As Cpl. Dwayne Bevell parked alongside her, Ms. Harrison then put the pickup truck that she was driving into reverse and rammed Bevell's patrol car head-on at about 40 mph, a report said. She was apprehended at the scene.
Ms. Harrison was charged with driving while impaired, felony fleeing to elude arrest, felony assault with a deadly weapon, a pickup truck, on a law-enforcement officer, failure to heed blue lights and a siren, two counts of reckless driving, no operator's license, four stoplight violations, unauthorized use of a vehicle, injury to real property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ms. Harrison was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,500 secured bond.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the 1998 Ford police car and $1,500 to the pickup truck that was registered to Michael and Pebbles Lewis of Goldsboro.
School damaged
About $800 worth of damages was inflicted Monday on eight buses at Spring Creek High School, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Nine mirrors and two stop arms were ripped off, and a door glass was smashed.
Glass windows in a classroom door and a gym door were shattered, the report said. Damages were set at $400. A DVD player, valued at $200, was stolen, deputies said. The boys' locker room was ransacked.
The suspects also got on the roof and pushed off a satellite dish but did not damage it, the report said.
Man assaulted
A 19-year-old Goldsboro man was assaulted Sunday by several people in an apartment in the 300 block of Seymour Drive, Goldsboro police said in a report filed Monday.
Ricardo Antwan Best of Arrington Bridge Road told officers that he was visiting at a friend's apartment at 5:30 p.m. when several people came to the door and asked to speak to him. When he went outside, one person pulled a gun on Best and ordered him back inside, the report said.
Another person then punched Best, the report said, and several more joined the assault, with one striking him with a handgun. About 12 to 15 suspects then fled.
Best was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Video-game equipment, two satellite television boxes, a video cassette recorder, 40 DVD moves and medicine were stolen Monday after a door was damaged at a home in the 2800 block of Old Grantham Road, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, J.D. Gallman, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,740 and damage at $100.
*Two televisions and a camera were stolen Monday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Nugget Drive, deputies said. The resident, Thomas Craig Poole, estimated the stolen property's value at $510 and damage at $100.
*Video-game equipment, a Dale Earnhardt jacket, four model race cars, clothes, compact discs in a case and $250 were stolen between Sunday and Monday from a home in the 100 block of Merrywood Drive, deputies said. The resident, Patrick Lee Hall, put a $1,317 value on the property.
*A blue and yellow 1992 Suzuki four-wheeler was stolen between Friday and Monday from a trailer in the 800 block of Outlaw Road, deputies said. The owner and resident, Grover C. Boyatt II, said it was worth $3,500.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Four televisions were stolen between Sunday and Monday from Wal-Mart at 1002 N. Spence Ave., police said. The televisions were valued at $1,252.
*A car radio was stolen after a door and a dashboard were damaged between Friday and Monday at Goldsboro Honda at 1309 W. Grantham St., police said. The radio was valued at $400. Damages were set at $600.
*A laptop computer, 12 computer games, a radio, 36 DVD movies and a power inverter were stolen Monday from a truck in the 2100 block of Wayne Memorial Drive, police said. The property, owned by Lester Coggins Trucking Inc. of Okahumpka, Fla., was valued at $4,717.
*A white, four-door 1990 Honda Accord was stolen between Saturday and Monday from Wayne Motors at 4026 U.S. 70 East, police said. The car was valued at $1,800.
Missing
Two teenaged girls were reported missing Monday by relatives to Goldsboro police.
*Monica Crystal McQueen, 17, of 1201 Ben Brewington Court was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 118 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a brown complexion. When she was seen last at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, she was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
*Nikki Sauls, 14, of 626 Devereaux St. was described as black, 5-feet-4 and 95 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. When she was seen last at 4 p.m. Sunday, she was wearing blue jeans, a shirt and shoes.
Anyone with information on the location of either girl was asked to call police at 705-6572.
