Collision remains under investigation

A collision in which a bicyclist was killed Thursday night on U.S. 13 South remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
Douglas Alan Harrell, 21, of 147 Hood Drive was riding north at about 9:16 p.m. when his bike was struck by a tractor-trailer truck near Dereck Drive.
The trucker was identified Friday as Nathan Junior Lofton, 39, of Delaney Place, Dudley. No charges have been filed by Trooper Jock Smith.
Damage was estimated at $1,000 to the tractor-trailer that was registered to Pate-Dawson Co. of Goldsboro. The bike had $25 in damages.
