Drug arrests

The Goldsboro-Wayne County drug squad arrested two Goldsboro people on drug charges and placed one of them, Dionco Rolaan Hamilton, 31, under $100,000 bond.

He and Erica O'Neil Johnson, 29, were charged after officers searched their house on East Holly Street. She was placed under $25,500 bond.

Both were charged with one count each of trafficking in cocaine by possessing more than 28 grams and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling a controlled substance. She was also charged with an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear ion court.

The investigation by the Goldsboro Wayne County Drug Squad resulted in the seizure of $18,500 in cash and cocaine with a street value of about $5,600.

Chase

A Wayne County Sheriff's deputy charged a Dudley man with felony fleeing to elude arrest, among other charges, after having to chase him down about 1:20 a.m. today. The chase ended at the intersection of Herring Road and South Landfill Road.

Russell Edwards O'Dell Jr., 29, of Massey Road, Dudley was charged with felony flee to elude, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless, resisting arrest. Blood was drawn at Wayne Memorial Hospital to test for blood alcohol content. He was placed under $10,000 bond for those charges, but the judge allowed no bond for another charge of violating a protective order. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail.

Deputy Dennis Michael Smiley said he was responding to a call from Massey Road regarding someone driving recklessly in the neighborhood. He said the car met him head-on and ran him off the road. The officer turned around and followed the driver to the intersection of Massey and Herring Road, where the man ran the stop sign. He said he tried to stop the driver just before South Landfilll Road, but the driver refused to stop. The chase continued for 20-miles through the Grantham community and ended in a back yard on Stevens Mill Road.

Investigations

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports:

*Goldsboro police told the Sheriff's Office this morning they retrieved an abandoned 1992 Lexus that had been reported stolen Tuesday. Officers found the abandoned vehicle at the intersection of William and Wilson streets. The officers contacted the owner, Jermaine McDuffie of Mill Creek Court, who said the car was taken during a break-in at her home.

*A larceny was reported Wednesday night at the home of Mira Dail Houston on Powell Road. She said she found her wedding ring set and cash missing, all valued at $2,085. She said the theft occurred some time between 7 a.m. on Sept. 19 and 8 p.m. Wednesday. The report said there was no sign of forced entry.

*Someone did $600 worth of damage to a door and two windows to break into a house on Wilson Road, Fremont and steal a $400 television set. A neighbor who was looking after the house for the owner, Kenneth Barnes of Raleigh, said he found the damage and the television missing. Police said they have identified suspects in the investigation.

* Someone did $1,200 damage to windows and a garage door at the home of Betty Bright Polite on Outlaw Road, Dudley.

*Someone took $5,400 worth of equipment off a trailer parked behind Rainman Irrigation at 439 N.C. 55 East of Mount Olive.

*Someone did $1,000 worth of damage to the kitchen counter of an empty mobile home on Cobb Coley Lane. A neighbor told investigators someone has been coming into the abandoned trailer to sleep. He said it appeared the person left a can of heating oil burning, and it caught the kitchen counter on fire. The fire then burned itself out after burning through the water pipes.

The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating these reports:

*A Goldsboro man said a woman hit him, bit him and pointed a gun at him after he took a knife away from her. Herbert Pinkney Hines of Koonce Street said the woman got mad at him, and she and her sister attacked him. Hines said took his money clip valued at $15 and $212 in cash. No charges were filed.

*Someone broke seven windows to rental property on Orchard Street with rocks. Owner J.B. Rhodes of South Slocumb Street said he went to the property and found $350 worth of damage.
