KENANSVILLE -- The Kenansville town board has tabled a decision about forming an extraterritorial jurisdiction until December.
Town Clerk Crystal Jenkins said the town's planning board asked that the ETJ map and it adoption be removed from the agenda for Monday night's town board meeting.
Town officials have received so much response from people who live near town and are afraid of losing their freedoms that both boards wanted to wait until later.
Ms. Jenkins said the board might hold an educational workshop and invite the residents to attend to they can find out the kind of things that would happen if the town formed an ETJ.
The board also tabled a decision about whether to annex Duplin Commons. Board members had several questions, and Ms. Jenkins said County Manager Fred Eldridge "was very kind and patient and answered all our questions. More than likely it will be at the December meeting the board decides whether to annex."
