Youth Empowerment Summit set

WATCH and Communities in Schools is sponsoring a Youth Empowerment Summit for high school students on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Open to 120 students in the six high schools in Wayne County Public Schools, 20 per school, the event will be held at Dillard Alumni Building, Poplar Street.
Kwain Bryant of Empowerment Exchange in Charlotte, is the keynote speaker, on the topic, "Generation Next: The R.E.A.L. Deal." Other presenters will also lead sessions entitled "Friends, Cliques, and Crushes," "Colors: Youth and Gang Violence," and "From Use to Abuse: The Truth About Drugs."
The event is free to students and space for adults is limited to invitation only.
To learn more about the summit, high school students are encouraged to contact the guidance counselor at their schools.
