Mooving in day at fair

The rides are ready. The turkey legs, corn dogs and funnel cakes are ready. The exhibits are in place. The animals are in their pens. The entertainers are about to hit the stage.
The 57th Annual Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair is here. The fair kicks off this afternoon with the midway opening at 4 p.m.
This year's fair features 48 rides from Powers Great American Midway, and dozens of food vendors tease the tastebuds.
Hundreds of exhibitors in more than 50 categories registered crafts, art, antiques, scrapbooks, clothing and more Wednesday afternoon and this morning. Livestock in 13 categories registered for competition this morning.
Fair director Milton Ingram said he's ready.
"It's so difficult to get it all in place, that it's sort of a relief that it's finally here and you can get started," Ingram said. "There are so many details that you have to take care of that the general public doesn't see."
"People brought exhibits in yesterday and again this morning, and the buildings look real good," Ingram said this morning. "At 4 o'clock, we're going to be ready to turn it on."
Tonight's highlights include vocational competitions in drafting and math at 5:30 and the Open Junior Meat Goat Show at 6.
New this year are fireworks Friday and Saturday nights, and the children's show Barnyard Express.
Daily attractions are the Welcome to the Farm Exhibit, the "Discover Agriculture" contest, blacksmith demonstration, and vintage farm equipment display.
The only thing left to chance was the one thing Ingram can't control -- the weather.
"I saw the weather this morning," he said. "They said we might have a shower this afternoon to settle the dust, but we'll be ready to go."
