Crimes
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the following crimes:
*Quinastasius Becton of North Georgia Avenue told police he was asleep at a residence on West Chestnut Street when someone stole his handgun. He described the gun as a black .45 caliber High Point pistol valued at $179. He said it was lying on the floor beside him while he was asleep on the couch in the living room at the residence.
*Someone reportedly cut the lock to Alex Moore's workshop at his home on U.S. 117 South and took an air compressor and nail gun, both valued at $199. Damage to the lock was $4.
*William Nelson Justice of the streets of Goldsboro told police a man he does not know rode up to him on a red bicycle, demanded money, slapped him and took $20. He said the robbery occurred on Sept. 7. He reported it Friday.
*Somebody broke into two vehicles at Arnold Wilbert Corporation, 1401 W. Grantham St. and damaged two compact disk players and took the keys to both vehicles and a cellular telephone. Items taken were worth $25. Damage was $512.
*A security guard at Wayne Community College reported the theft of a laptop computer Friday afternoon from a classroom. He said the computer, valued at $1,800, was taken from an unsecured classroom in the Azalea building on the campus.
*Police recovered a 1996 Nissan truck reported stolen from Raleigh while answering a complaint in Goldsboro. Police notified the owner.
*Thieves pried open the door to the Genesis Unique Beauty Salon at 501 Vann St. in Goldsboro sometime after 8 p.m. Thursday. Police found $50 in damage and items valued at $450 taken, including a television, a telephone, two pair of clippers, a window fan and assorted hair care supplies.
*Someone forced open the trunk to Brenda Kivett's 1993 Lincoln Town Car and took $185 in cash from her purse. The car was parked next door to her home on Atlantic Avenue.
*Police recovered a stolen 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe from a parking area in the 100 block of Poplar Street while answering a complaint. The owner, Warren Young of Dorothy Place, Pikeville, was contacted. He said he left the keys in the vehicle while visiting his son on Charles Street. The vehicle, valued at $20,000, sustained $400 damage to the front bumper and grill and a headlight.
Wreck
Goldsboro police investigated a three-car pile-up Friday afternoon on Ash Street. Lyndsay Rae Newman of LaGrange was charged with failure to reduce speed, according to police. The driver whose vehicle that was struck first, Steven Tyrone Hall of Durham Lake Road, Dudley, was charged with driving while license revoked.
The Hall vehicle was pushed into a 1999 Chevrolet driven by Danny Lebaron Arnette of Hickory Road. Damage to the Chevrolet was $1,000. The 1999 Ford driven by Newman sustained $1,500 damage, and the 1995 Mazda driven by Hall sustained $3,000 damage.
