A lone man walked into the Wachovia Bank at 605 N. Berkeley Blvd. on Friday, demanded money from a teller and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Goldsboro police said.

Police Chief Tim Bell said Saturday night that he would not say if the man was armed or wore a mask during the 3 p.m. holdup.

The suspect fled in an older white station wagon and was seen traveling south in the Berkeley Mall parking lot. Bell said he did not know if the robber had worked alone. The chief said no one was harmed during the holdup.

Police investigators followed up leads Friday and Saturday, but no one had been arrested.

The bank was closed after the robbery, although the outside automatic teller machines were open.

Investigators Dale Foster and Trey Ball were assigned to the case.

The suspect was described as black, 5-feet-6 to 5-10 and 150 to 160 pounds with a slender build. He wore a light blue T-shirt, dark pants and a red University of Oklahoma baseball hat.

Bell said the Federal Bureau of Investigation would join the investigation Monday.

Anyone with information on the holdup was asked to call police at 580-4217 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward, if their information leads to an arrest.

The N.C. Bankers Associ-ation also will offer a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect. Anonymous calls may be made to 1-800-209-2293.
