Cystic fibrosis benefit walk set for Sept. 24

A benefit walk to help victims of cystic fibrosis will be held Sept. 24 at Rosewood High School.
Lexi's Angels is a group organizing the CF Great Strides Walk on behalf of Lexi Lewis, the 21-month-old daughter of Reed and Melissa Lewis, who suffers from the disease.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that can lead to life-threatening lung infections and obstructions of the digestive tract. More than 30,000 people in the U.S. suffer from cystic fibrosis, with 1,000 more people diagnosed with it every year.
The Rosewood walk is intended to raise money for research to find a cure for the disease. Tax-deductible donations are being accepted on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Money collected from sponsors goes directly to the foundation and 89 cents of every dollar is used for reasearch. Businesses and individuals who would like to participate are urged to form teams to take part in the event, which will be held at 8 a.m. at the Rosewood High School track field. Registration begins one hour before the walk. Donors are urged to make their donations prior to the walk and donation forms can be obtained by contacting the Lewis' at 734-8130.
Prizes will be given for donations of more than $100.
