Sentences handed down in Wayne County break-ins

Two men have pleaded guilty in Wayne County Superior Court to felony charges in connection with two break-ins.
Chad Donnavan Herring, 17, of Indian Springs Road, Mount Olive, pleaded guilty to taking part in a daytime break-in of a Dudley home on May 11 with three other men.
Herring was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. He pleaded to the possession charge, and the other charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to six to eight months in prison, suspended on three years of probation and pay court costs and $325 to his court-appointed lawyer.
A neighbor saw the break-in on Augusta Drive, called 911 and provided a description of the suspects' vehicle and said four men were inside.
Deputy Chuck Schaeffer spotted the vehicle about a mile from the home and arrested the the men. About $1,930 worth of property was recovered.
Denton C. Young, 23, of Athens Drive, Dudley, pleaded guilty to breaking into the Neuse River Gun and Pawn Shop on U.S. 117 South on Oct. 11, 2004. Three other men also were charged in the crime.
Young pleaded guilty to attempted breaking and entering. The other charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to five to six months in prison. The term was suspended on condition that he complete 3 years of supervised probation and 30 hours of community service and pay court costs.
Two other men from Dudley pleaded guilty to possession of stolen goods in the residential theft and attempted breaking and entering in the pawn shop break-in. Mario Antwan Cozart, 20, of Georgia Farms Road and Elroy Player, 20, of Marshall Drive received suspended sentences and were fined $750. A fourth defendant in the home break-in, Mario Devon Crews, 20, of Athens Drive, pleaded guilty to possession of stolen goods. and got a suspended sentence.
The fourth defendant in the shop break-in, Michael Shawn Hunt, 18, of Athens Drive, was allowed to enter a diversionary program. If he completes successfully the terms imposed the charge will be removed from his record.
