property stolen
Nineteen Eastern Wayne High School football players reported the theft of a total of $1,127 worth of cash and property from a locker room between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
The door to the room had been left open by mistake, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Sixteen players reported the loss of a total of $447. Other property stolen included seven pairs of tennis shoes, a calculator, a book bag, shorts and a gym bag.
Driver has 2 wrecks
A driver was involved in two collisions Monday, the Highway Patrol said. He fled from the first and was later charged with driving while impaired.
The reports said Armando Fernandez, 22, of U.S. 117 South, Dudley, sideswiped a pickup truck at 8:08 p.m. on Frankie Lane, north of U.S. 70, and fled. The other driver was identified as Alen Wayne Martin, 53, of Short Street. Damage to the vehicles was estimated at $6,500.
About 10 minutes later, Fernandez was backing up on Howell Road near Leslie Road, but lost control of the car and it ran off the left side, struck a mail box and a bench, troopers said. Damages were set at $2,000.
In other collisions:
*Damages were estimated at $7,000 in a two-vehicle wreck at 1:07 a.m. today in the Cameron's Clubhouse parking lot at 2215 E. Ash St., Goldsboro police said. One driver, Aimee Brooke Barnes, 22, of Mount Carmel Church Road, Pikeville, was charged with driving while impaired and a safe-movement violation. The report said her car collided with a parked pickup truck that was registered to Sarah Smith of Cashwell Drive.
*A driver was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 6:59 a.m. Thursday on South Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 117 bypass, near West Elm Street, police said. Marvin Lorenze Rich of Bass Lake Drive, Mount Olive, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. A second northbound driver, James Edward Hobbs, 57, of Rose Hill, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. Damages were set at $2,000.
*A passenger was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:40 a.m. Thursday at South Slocumb Street and Seymour Drive, police said. Kamron Battle, 6, of Myers Avenue, was released after emergency-room treatment. He was riding with Thelma M. Williams, 37, of Myers Avenue. The other driver, Gary Ronald Potter, 31, of Clinton, was charged with driving left of center. The report said his southbound van had sideswiped Ms. Williams' northbound car. Damages were put at $2,400.
*Damages were estimated at $6,500 in a two-vehicle collision at 7:45 a.m. Thursday at North Lionel and East Mulberry streets, police said. A southbound driver, Allen Dupree Edens Jr., 54, of Durham, was charged with a safe-movement violation at a stop sign. The report said his sport utility vehicle had collided with an eastbound car that was driven by James Michael Dubrowsky, 34, of East Mulberry Street.
*A tree fell on a westbound car at 2:42 a.m. Wednesday on St. John Church Road near Piney Grove Church Road, causing about $5,000 in damages, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, David Allen Jones, 21, of Sanderson Road, Seven Springs, was not injured or charged.
*An eastbound driver was injured and his car was demolished in a wreck at 10:35 p.m. Saturday on N.C. 55 near Dobbersville Road, the Highway Patrol said. Sabino Nicolas Lopez, 24, of Albertson Mobile Home Park was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Duke Hospital in Durham, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said. The report said Lopez' car ran off the right side, careened back across the road out of control, ran off the left side and overturned several times into a cotton field. He was charged with suspicion of driving while impaired. His car was valued at $6,500. Damage to the cotton was set at $1,000.
Computer stolen
A computer system and a jacket were stolen Thursday from Goldsboro Honda at 1309 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro police reported. The thief had damaged a door to get inside. The stolen property was valued at $1,060. Damage was estimated at $100.
Wanted
McLaughlin
A 32-year-old woman is being sought by Goldsboro police on five felony charges of embezzlement and one felony charge of obtaining property by false pretense.
Indigo Terilyn McLaughlin was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. In addition to having lived in Goldsboro, police say she has ties to Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Anyone with information on her location was asked to call police Investigator Dwayne Dean at 580-4211 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
Drug charge
A 42-year-old man was arrested before dawn today by Goldsboro police and charged with a felony drug offense.
Jeffrey Flowers of Westbrook Dairy Road, Four Oaks, was charged with possession of cocaine in the 1400 block of Salem Church Road and carrying a concealed weapon. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $1,700 secured bond.
