Teen is charged
in car break-ins
A rash of vehicle break-ins in northern Wayne County was solved Tuesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office with the arrest of a Goldsboro teen-ager.
Leamon Corderius Holmes, 18, of Woodrose Drive was charged with breaking and entering and larceny. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $7,000 secured bond.
About $3,900 worth of property was stolen during the break-ins Sunday night on or near Airport Road. About $750 worth of property has been recovered. The stolen property included four handguns that have not been recovered. Fourteen vehicles were unlocked, and the stolen property was in plain view, detectives said.
Detective Sgts. Carl Lancaster and Rick Farfour said additional charges will be obtained through grand jury indictments.
Holmes also has been identified for three crimes Sunday night in Goldsboro, including the attempted theft of an automatic teller machine
Drug charges
Three people have been arrested by Wayne County authorities and charged with felony drug offenses.
James Allen Gautier, 20, and George Wilbur Ezzell, 20, both of Mary Lane, were charged by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana, possession of cocaine and possession of medicine without a prescription. Each was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a secured bond.
The third person, Jarrett Ledairis Garner, 20, of Old Mount Olive Road, Dudley, was charged by sheriff's deputies with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was jailed in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Meanwhile, the drug squad on Tuesday seized seven marijuana plants in southern Wayne County. The plants had a street value of about $16,800 at maturity.
Three charges
A teen-ager was arrested Tuesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with three felony offenses filed by Sampson County authorities.
William Allen Jackson, 18, of O'Berry Road, Dudley, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.
Break-ins
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A 52-inch and two 27-inch televisions, a microwave oven and a DVD player were stolen between Thursday and Tuesday from a home in the 300 block of Leavie Drive, deputies said. The thief damaged a door to get inside. The owner, Tracey L. Lane of Fremont, estimated the value of the stolen property at $3,730 and damage at $100.
*A gold chain, a watch and a small safe were stolen before dawn today after a door was damaged at a home in the 400 block of Twin Creeks Drive, deputies said. The resident, Wilbert Jamaal Bass, put a $1,450 value on the stolen property and set damage at $350.
*A push lawn mower, two DVD players, a video cassette recorder, a radio and compact disc player and $100 were stolen Tuesday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Colonel Warrick Drive, deputies said. The resident, Omar Deda Otero, estimated the value of the stolen property at $500.
*A thief inflicted $300 in damages between Aug. 24 and Tuesday to a house door in the 500 block of Watery Branch Church Road in order to steal two soft drinks and cigarettes. The resident, S.L. Newsome, put a $23 value on the missing property. A neighbor, Gloria Anselmo Arellano, also reported the theft of $310 and a kitchen knife from her unlocked home.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Stereo equipment, a video-game system, a watch, a man's cologne and a telephone were stolen between Tuesday and dawn today after a door was forced open at an apartment in the 700 block of South Randolph Street, police said. The resident, Timothy Alvin Gupton, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,045 and damage at $100.
*A silver Daytona scooter and a riding helmet were stolen Tuesday from a building in the 1900 block of Edgerton Street, police said. The owner, Chris Lee Ramer of Goldsboro, said his property was worth $1,140.
Missing
A 16-year-old Goldsboro boy was reported missing by relatives to Goldsboro police. Richard Ray Jones Jr. of 203 N. Harding Drive was described as black, 6-feet-1 and 185 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion.
When Jones was seen last at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Eastern Wayne High School, he was wearing a light blue shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
