Shooting

A 28-year-old woman reported that a man threatened to kill her Wednesday and then fired several shots, damaging her home, the Wayne County Sheriff's Department said.

Quiyam Damali Archibald of Camp Trailee Road, Dudley, told deputies that the suspect had argued with her about a break-in at the suspect's home. The gunshots struck a washer and dryer, inflicting about $700 in damages, the report said.

Assault charge

A 25-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with a felony assault.

Henry Calvin Jones of East Pine Street was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and three misdemeanors -- assault on a female, second-degree trespass and communicating threats. Jones was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $4,200 secured bond.

Rape charge

A 41-year-old man was arrested Tuesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with the second-degree rape of his estranged common-law wife.

Carlos M. Hernandez of Willard Lane, Dudley, was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the woman's home at about midnight Tuesday. The 33-year-old woman said the couple have been together for 11 years, but had not married and had been separated for about two months.

The man came to the woman's home, they argued and he forcibly had sex with her, the report said. The woman was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was arrested without incident at a store on U.S. 117 Alternate.

Driver injured

A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $16,300 Tuesday in two traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.

*A driver said she was looking at a gas receipt and her car collided with a parked car at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday on Audubon Avenue near East Walnut Street, Goldsboro police said. Ella B. Perry, 71, of Linwood Avenue, was charged with reckless driving. She was injured in the collision, and she was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released. Damages were set at $3,300.

*Damages were estimated at $13,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on North William Street near 11th Street, police said. A motorist leaving a driveway, Frady Morales Rodriguez, 24, of North William Street, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said the pickup truck that Rodriguez was driving collided with a northbound car that was driven by Sheldon Rodney Richardson, 52, of Rocky Mount.

Investigations

Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:

*A utility trailer, a riding lawn mower and four lawn mower tires were stolen Tuesday from the 4400 block of U.S. 13 North, sheriff's deputies said. The owner and resident, Jeff Swartz, put a $980 value on his property.

*A white, four-door Cadillac Seville was stolen Tuesday from the 2600 block of Royall Avenue, Goldsboro police said. The owner, Ruben Ham of Goldsboro, said the car was worth $6,000.
