Kyle Sasser has been invited to participate in the Junior National Young Leaders Conference to be held this fall in Washington, D.C.
He will join over 200 outstanding middle school students from across the United States in a six-day, interactive program de-signed to de-velop leadership skills.
Participants will take part in educational activities and presentations, visit historical sites and meet with elected officials.
Woodmen of the World Lodge 1319 contributed $300 toward Kyle's expenses for the trip.
He is the son of Tim and Jane Sasser of LaGrange.
Elise Lockamy of Goldsboro was among the 181 seniors graduating from Milton Academy in June in Milton, Mass. The academy is an independent boarding and day school near Boston, chartered in 1798.
LaKeisha Lewis, the daughter of Janice Lewis, has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship by the Avon Foundation. She is one of 100 students to receive a President's Club Scholarship. Children and grandchildren of Avon sales representatives who are members of the company's President's Club are eligible. The scholarships are based on grades, test scores, extracurricular activities and community service. She plans to student pharmacy at Campbell University.
Bernadette Newsome, a 1989 graduate of Goldsboro High School and a 1993 graduate of A&T State University received a master of public administration in non-profit organizations on May 7, 2005, from High Point University in High Point. She resides in Greensboro and is employed as the program director at the YMCA in High Point. She is the daughter of Stavis Morgan of Goldsboro.
Kathy Ondishko of Goldsboro is on the spring semester dean's list at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisc. She is a student in the College of Health Sciences, pursuing a bachelor of science degree in exercise science.
Arthur Hatch of Goldsboro received a bachelor of science degree in history from the Methodist College in Fayetteville during spring commencement exercises. He is the son of Carolyn Cobb.
Kellen Amanda Capps and Doris Cornelia Jackson, both of Goldsboro, were named to the 2005 President's List at Methodist College in Fayetteville. To be included on the President's List, a student must achieve a 3.7 (A) grade point average on a total course load of at least 12 semester hours.
Dave Dixon of Goldsboro recently received the Career Development Award from Campbell University's School of Pharmacy. He is the son of David and Debbie Dixon.
Tiffany V. Alexander of Goldsboro has received a master of business administration degree from the University of Phoenix Online. Commence-ment ceremonies were held in Phoenix, Ariz., on July 29 and 30.
