Health department worker recognized

A nutritionist with the Wayne County Health Department has been nominated for a Public Health Staff Recognition Award in recognition of outstanding service in the local community.
Stephanie Howard was among 30 individuals or health departments from around the state nominated for their work. A ceremony honoring nominees and award recipients will be held in Asheville on October 4 as part of the N.C. Public Health Association's annual meeting.
Ms. Howard works with the YMCA and its CHANGE for Life program, WISH programs within the county middle and high schools, WAGES, and Head Start programs, among others.
Jenny Sharpless, Wayne County Nutrition Program Director, called Ms. Howard a very dedicated worker, loyal to public health.
"I often refer to her as my 'community nutritionist," she said. "Stephanie represents us well and the passion for her job can be felt by all who come into contact with her."
