Teen is charged

in three break-ins

A teenager has been arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with nine felony offenses in connection with three break-ins.

Philip Joseph Goff, 18, of Walters Drive was charged with three counts each of breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.

Goff was accused of breaking into three homes Thursday in northeastern Wayne County, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said. The stolen property, valued at about $2,500, has been recovered.

Farfour said more arrests were possible during a further investigation.

Investigations

Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:

*Two four-wheelers, an Arctic Cat and an Alpha Sport, were stolen between Sunday and Monday after a fence was damaged at Goldsboro Power Sports at 2502 U.S. 13 North, deputies said. The four-wheelers were valued at $4,700. Damage was set at $200.

*Gunshots on Monday damaged a window and the headliner of a car in the 900 block of Camp Jubilee Road, deputies said. A resident, Bobby Wayne Williams, said he followed the suspect's car to Kinston and then to Greene County before losing it. He then flagged down Wayne County deputies and told him what had happened. Damages were estimated at $1,000.

*Twenty-five aluminum roofing shingles were stolen Monday from Rohr Chemical Co. at 694 Sheridan Forest Road, deputies said. The material was valued at $1,000.

Accident

Damages were estimated at $6,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 10:15 a.m. Monday at New Hope Road and Lewis Drive, Goldsboro police said.

One driver, Laura Catherine Mitchell, 18, of Ryan Boulevard, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. The other motorist, Carol J. Coltrane, 48, of Lewis Drive, had stopped to make a left turn, the report said.
