Woman charged
in rape of teen
A 25-year-old woman has been arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with felony statutory rape and a felony statutory sex offense of a 15-year-old boy.
Shannon Kathleen Munn of Lee's Country Club Road, Mount Olive, was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.
Ms. Munn was accused of sexually assaulting the victim between July 13 and July 31 near Mount Olive and Faison, Detective Sgt. Tammy Odom said. No threat of violence or use of a weapon was reported during the crimes, Sgt. Odom said. The victim's relatives reported the crimes, the report said.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Four tires and rims and a DVD player were stolen between Sunday and dawn today after a window was smashed in a car at General Industries on Thoroughfare Road, deputies said. The owner, Delarian Grandison of Butner, estimated the property's value at $4,795 and damages at $100.
*A hunter green, four-door 1993 Jeep was stolen between Sunday and dawn today from the Burger King parking lot on U.S. 117 South in Mar Mac, deputies said. The vehicle, owned by McDonald Ray Armond, was valued at $5,000.
*A wall, a door and a door glass were damaged between Saturday and Sunday at Tommy's Food Mart at 3426 Wayne Memorial Drive, deputies said. Damages were put at $15,000.
*A red and white Polaris four-wheeler was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from a shed in the 2900 block of Big Daddy's Road, deputies said. The resident, Donald Ray Fortner, put a $5,500 value on it.
*About $1,761 worth of tools were stolen between Aug. 6 and Saturday from a barn in the 200 block of N.C. 111 South, deputies said. The resident, William Kearney, reported the theft of four saws, a nailer, a drill, a router and a wrench.
*Two window air conditioners, two televisions and a video cassette recorder were stolen and an air conditioner was damaged between July 28 and Friday at a home in the 100 block of Ellis Drive, deputies said. The property was valued at $1,310. Damage was set at $150 at V.R. Edwards' home.
*A shotgun was stolen between Thursday and Friday after two doors were damaged at a home in the 2700 block of Stevens Mill Road, deputies said. The resident, Phil Ray Ricks, said the weapon was worth $250 and estimated damages at $500.
Jewelry stolen
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*About $1,190 worth of jewelry was stolen between Thursday and Saturday after a window was smashed in a home in the 600 block of West Walnut Street, police said. The resident, M.W. Yarborough, reported the theft of six rings, three gold bracelets, four gold necklaces, silver earrings and a jewelry box.
*About $53 worth of food and medicine was stolen Sunday from Food Lion at 1005 N. Spence Ave., police said. The thief jumped in a van and sped away. An employee followed the van, and the thief threw out the stolen items. All were recovered.
*Damage was estimated at $3,000 to a brick wall in the 400 block of Charles Street. The property is owned by Douglas Stuart of Goldsboro.
Accidents
Ten people were injured and damages were estimated at $40,400 in eight recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-car collision at 7:15 a.m. Saturday at U.S. 70 East and N.C. 111 South, Goldsboro police said. An eastbound driver, Miguel Angel Carias, 28, of Clayton, was charged with a stoplight violation. The car that Carias was driving collided with a northbound auto driven by Kathleen Marie Hansen, 44, of Jacksonville.
*Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2:05 p.m. Saturday at U.S. 117 and Britt Street in Pikeville, the Highway Patrol said. Tammy Lynn Sullivan, 36, of CBA Lane, Pikeville, and her passenger, Amber Alsterberg, 24, of Pate Circle, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. The other driver, Kenneth Wayne Hooks, 59, of N.C. 222 West, Fremont, was charged with failure to reduce speed. Damages were set at $3,400.
*A northbound driver from Goldsboro was injured in a two-vehicle wreck at 8:15 p.m. Friday at U.S. 117 and O'Berry Road, the Highway Patrol said. James Marshall Vogt, 52, of Brookwood Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. Vogt was charged with failure to reduce speed. Christopher Dale Wilson, 20, of Boiling Springs was charged with driving while impaired under age. Damages were put at $2,200.
*Damages were estimated at $7,800 in a one-vehicle wreck at 3:30 a.m. Friday on Pikeville-Princeton Road near Pikes Cemetery Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Stephanie B. Millard, 26, of Crescent Creek Drive, Pikeville, was charged with reckless driving after her sport utility vehicle ran off the left side in a curve, struck a tree and a fence and overturned.
*Two people were injured in a one-car crash at 12:01 a.m. Friday on Mark Edwards Road near Parkstown Road, the Highway Patrol said. Laura Katherine Guinn, 20, of Old Smithfield Road, and her passenger, Kaylynn Morris, 18, of Shadowy Lane, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Guinn was charged with exceeding a safe speed. Her car ran off the right side, struck a ditch, two driveway culverts and a building. Damage was set at $1,500.
*Both drivers were injured and damages were estimated at $7,500 in a collision at 5:50 p.m. Thursday on Old Mount Olive Road near Outlaw Road, the Highway Patrol said. Robert Harold Ray Jr., 52, of Radford Drive and Ethel Lorraine Wooten, 31, of Maple Street were released after emergency-room treatment. Ray was charged with driving while his license was revoked and driving left of center. .
*A driver was injured in a one-truck wreck at 10:15 p.m. Thursday on Big Daddy's Road near N.C. 111, the Highway Patrol said. Mark Curtis Hill, 17, of South John Street was released after emergency-room treatment. He was charged with exceeding a safe speed. The report said the pickup truck that he was driving ran off the road, overturned and slid into a ditch. Damage was put at $4,000.
*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 70 near Piney Grove Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. Jillian Armayne Sanders, 15, and her passenger, Donnie Sanders, 49, both of Southern Pine Road, were released after emergency-room treatment. The report said the other driver, Billy Ray Briley, 36, of Elm City, was slowing to make a right turn and that the sport utility vehicle that Ms. Sanders was driving struck the rear of a trailer that the pickup was pulling.
